How hard was it to remove the core support? I'm thinking of doing this on the '86 GT, the '87 is too far into the build process to go back and change it all now! racerb irat
I've looked at it a lot, is it mostly just drilling out the spot welds, and then just chiseling the metal away?? racerb :?
Well that's on way I simple just cut away the centre on the insides of the lights so the lights still have their support. I will change the whole front end later with frame. And then simply just for a bar long enough to go between and and bolt it up. It took me some time befor I finally got the courage to even think about cutting it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Understood, I've eliminated the headlights and all their support pieces on my cars (because racecar), and just want to get rid of that crazy shaped metal structure. Wish I had gotten the courage to remove it on my '87, but the '86 is definitely getting this treatment. Your project is looking good, hope it turns out well for you! racerb
Yeah I would get rid of the headlights too if we didn't have twilight races lol. Yeah it's moving along well. Hope to get it to the track for a run in or just run it on the road in a few months Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good news and bad news. Got the wheel bearings the other day. Got all set to getting them In today. Bad news both hubs have been spinning on the inner races so they are both fecked. Now I have to spend some time looking for new ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So finaly got an N/A clutch plate today. Now I'm just waiting for my gt4 pressure plate to get here Also got some new back pads as well for when they are needed. Will get some new rotors eventually. Gaskets turn up for the cam covers intake and exhaust next week. Then hopefully clutch next week and it can finaly go in the car. Then all that will be left is a few rose joints for the sway bar and tie rod end and front hubs and it can be back in the ground and moving on its own. Then hopefully look at giving it a coat of paint Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Long time coming but the engine is complete minus the clutch pressure plate. As of tonight I am literally only waiting for the pressure plate and it can finally go in the car after 15 months of being out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Zorst time.... Oh and btw I've been also been a little busy with something else Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok so it may not seem like I've done much in the photo's but I'm very close to starting the car again. Most of the engine is ready just have to change a couple of fittings on the intake manifold. Need some oil and filters. Just waiting on my hubs to turn up. Then the drive shafts can go in oil can go in wheels can go on and car can finally sit on the ground Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
