Your car is your car so do with it as you please, I certainly do with my cars.....
My philosophy is you only live once so make yourself happy.

As far as All Tracing a GTS I don't really think its that hard. As far as I can tell
theirs 4 main things that need to be done.

    - the front to rear crossmember under the engine on a GTS will be in the way of the driveshaft
the All Trac front to rear crossmember is offset in the rear towards the north american drivers side

the right crossmember is from an All Trac
    [IMG]

    - it is said that the tunnel between the seats needs to be made bigger

    - you will need to remove the GTS gas tank and put a fuel cell in the hatch

    - you will need to make mounting points for the All Trac rear sub frame

I'll be starting on my IMSA version this summer but I'll be useing a hatchback not a coupe
I finally got a plasma cutter so the fun can begin
    [IMG]

One of my future plans is to find another Lexus RX300 AWD don't know what the Australian version is but
I would like to take all its powertrain and put it under a GTS. I know that the 1mzfe engine will fit
and I'm not looking to race it, I'd rather have a nice comfy ride. This one I'll do as a rally version of the 165
since going from 14 to 16 inch rims will give the car some extra lift and maybe even enough room to clear
the drive shaft without tunnel modification
    [IMG]

As far as a 165 rear end is concerned that would be the last 1 I would look for.
165,185,205 rear subframe and differential are all physically identical. I have a 205
subframe and rear diff in my All Trac. Subframes are all the same so it really doesn't
matter what version you get but all 205 diffs are LSD some 185 diffs are LSD and as
far as I know no 165 diffs are LSD

ok so those of you that saw the vid saw that i took it too the track, and here is it in the pits

well it also died that day and more ways than one, ive gone back to my old ways from the very begining of doing bearings in the bloody thing

so no.1big end bearing was missing
    no.2 big end was squashed
    no.3 big end was fine
and no.4 big end was squashed

we have come to the concluson of it starving of oil but from the catch can breather not working properly and not allowing the engine to breath therfor it was actually holding most of the oil in the head. also because the oil was a little too thick for the engine so i found out. but because it wasnt allowing the oil to go down to the sump it starved its self a few times.

so a week later this is my progress

    this is no.2 big end
    [IMG]

well what you can see of it

this is no.3 you can only just see really that there is no distortion in the bearing at all
    [IMG]

this is no.1 as you can see there is no bearing left. but you can also see the colour change in the rod halfway up from the brownish gold to the black because of how hot its gotten
    [IMG]

the gearbox needs a good clean
    [IMG]

yes there is a lot of wiring in the last picture and its going to be cleaned up since i dont have and engine in the bay anymore

on another note my new coilover sleeves turned up from the uk last week as well ready to make my rear coilovers

that is all for now, but the new motor is going to be started when ive got all the new gear, just waiting on oilpump, and some arp head studs, and im goign to order some hbeam 5sfe rods and the cp pistons for the 5s with the 3sge head once i get some coin up. mind you there was nothing wrong with the bore pistons rings h/g or head at all. and it did handle 12 psi quite a few times over the day when it spiked rather frequently so im not goign to say it wouldnt handle it, but im just going for the good shit now.

ok so im a little bit frustrated atm as at the start of the week i found a guy with a st165 in NSW and i offered him money and he was keen to take it. but 3 days later or thismorning he got a better offer from someone and litteraly told me to get fucked. so after searching for some time for st165 i found one and lost it within a week. so now that i have some money left that i was going to buy the car with. i decided tonight the best decision was to buy ssome serious internal gear for the block so i have some cp pistons and some h-beam rods bought and on the way to me.
it will probably be another few months befor the engine is done but the bottom end should be finished in the nex month i hope

wow, there are a few popping up for sale all of a sudden aren't there. One of the OzCelica guys in NSW has just bought an accident damaged 165 from QLD too..

Where did you end up getting your pistons and rods from? RSP?

pistons are CP and i cant remember what the rods were, i think both come out of america, i think thats the only place you can get 2.2l hbeam rods

hey guys its been some time since ive been on, and even since then not much has happened lol.

ok so my new engine hasnt been started yet. only because im lazy and havent taken it to the machine shop for boring.

so because im lazy i have complete gear just to build another basic engine again as im sick of it not moving anywere. the the standard build is on the go, but ive also got other things on the go like a wing and im about to organise a front diffusers, and another thing is im converting my power stearing rack into a manual rack. simply because its in a shit spot, i cant get to the pump if i need to.

these are whats on the go
    [IMG]

so this gt wing i picked up for doing some work for a mate of mine so it was cheap and an easy option for rear downforce now front downforce im going to have to do some modifying to and old front bar of my father inlaws crashed sports sedan, as he has a mould i could keep making some

ok so the front bar off this is it, yes there is modifying to do, and i know that but its something to work off.

next is the power stearing, i think i saw it on here so i started to do it

so this is the shaft on the main pinion that i need to wield up so that its strengthened, as not being assisted with fluid it will be heavier and possibly brake under stress.

so this is my progress so far

    Cheers Sean

Ok so from here on in my build comes to a halt until about June next year as I have come to an agreement with my missus as we are getting married next year in may. So to spend money on wedding I agreed not to spend a cent on the celica. But if I find things to do to it that don't cost me money I will update my progress.

So I found things to do today. Apparently I managed to buy a heap of bearings in std and 0.25 in both big end and mains. It turned out I have a perfectly good .25 crank. Got all my brand new standard pistons, some rods laying around, had a new oil pump and water pump.

Ok so just so everyone knows this is just a standard motor again. Just like the first one I build. I still have my good engine and gear at my father inlaws workshop. Half the reason I'm building it is because I need to be able to move the car under its own weight. And the other is I'm just sick of it not going. So I can now use this engine to try out new tyre combinations, test the de powered stearing and see how it goes. So if this wing realy does supply downforce and how much and were else I'm probably going to need to mount it.

Ok so I also made a little more progress. I got the valve clearances done today and I put the head on tonight

But I was putting all the nuts on to pull the head down and I found this

It is Infact a arp nut with no thread......

Has anyone else come across this.
