Is the cross in the 1st pic of this thread? If it is thn the pic was taken in BINGLEY CEMENTERY, Bingley, West Yorkshire in North England. Bingley is a famous old town going back centuries. It has a very old church , market and the famous canal with 5 and 3 sets of locks in order for boats to go up/down slopes. Just google bingley west yorkshire for more info.
I was curious because I didn't think Celtic Crosses were a fixture in England. I thought that was more an Irish Catholic symbol. Perhaps my understanding is flawed. Was the Celtic Cross originally an Anglo symbol from centuries before the reformation and creation of the Church of England? Perhaps..... I visited all kinds of historic site in both England and green Ireland two years ago.....interested in that kind of stuff so I wondered...
Um.....Cross, Inis Moor, Galway.....some town just north of Cross (can't remember the name). Loved it....can't wait to return.
Did a "wiki celtic cross" Apparently the ireland circle combined with the christian cross was very popular in ireland AND britain. It even spread to france!
I was there near the beach from July 16-18th, 2010. Next time I'm there I'll have to stop in! Perhaps you can put me up for the night?!?!?!?
Perhaps I could've visited you! Where is Coventry in comparison to Manchester or London.....both of which I visited in the same trip
My brother was a footballer so I travelled with his team to matches near London and Manchester. It was a blast! I fell in love with London....imagined living there.
Coventry is in the centre of England, so travelling by car to Manchester and London is about 2/3 hours depending where you go. Travelling to London by train from Coventry is 1 hour. Willie ( Mafix ) came over with his wife and he met up with a few of us, and Roy ( Lonewolf ) came over for a day.
