thanks man, if this helps the # on the drivers side of the engine bay is ST162L-BOMV.and on the passenger side its ST162-7023. I know from the factory it came with the normal canadian market 3s-ge with 135hp and the JDM 3s-ge was swapped in at 150,000kms as was the transmission. I believe the aeroform was also installed at that time. In march of this year a good friend of mine bought this celica which at the time had a "working" engine but, on the way home the oil pump and main bearings went so he parked it at a friends, he later that day he called the guy who sold him the car who "forgot" to tell him that the oil pressure went several times before. The next day he got angry at his car for blowing the main bearings and since the rev limiter was already removed he decided to see how fast it could go without a oil pump(with white smoke pouring out of the engine hnoes) and when he got to fifth like that but after the run he had to keep it at full throttle to keep it running later he bought a parts car with a 2se in it but he didn't have anytime to fix it uo so, In late april i bought the gts and the parts car for cheap to get it running again(hopefully soon...if i can find a flywheel) the most intresting part was when i brought it home it still started up somehow :shock
update: The good news: I have found a flywheel for my celica I have also found a drivers side front fender but it needs to get repainted. Now the bad news: I have had a good look at my aeroform front and back bumpers and they have to get replaced :banghead so im looking for aerform front and rear bumpers if anyone has them?
its for a st165 im thinking that it can be modified to fit though. the guy who put the aeroform on is just held up but bolts going into the stock bumper....
everything is interchangeable from the coupes and hatches, just not the rear end.... i have the 165 front.
ya i just pm'd the guy with the aeroform front bumper. btw im ordering a flywheel for the coupe. Did hks make a exhaust for these cars cuz mine has hks stamped on the cat if not its probably just the cat, im gonna need a working muffler(its basically straight pipe) for a saftey
update:found a flywheel for $100 so it should be working soon (when i can find a shop....) Has anyone fitted gp racing 16x7" gr-2 rims?
i have 16x7 on my celi, 205/50/16, +42 offset, 5mm spacer in the rear. barely fits LOL should make life a lot easier with 205/45/16 on those rims. they will be the perfect ratio for your speedo as well.
update: my cylinder head fell on my spare taillights :banghead and i have to get my good rad fixed (some of it broke off). eNtrax Thanks for the wheel/tire setup right
Im thinking of rebuilding my 3s-ge to 170whp n/a i know for the top end im going to use a ported gen 2 gte head with toda cams and cam pulleys. Im having trouble for my bottom end though becvause everything i find is either for a beams or a gte. is there any aftermarket pistons around 10.5:1 compression for a first gen?
thanks seank90but i might as well just use the entire 3rd gen block/head because of the state my motor is in. can toda cams work with the 3rd gen head because they have the upgraded shims?
all the pistons are interchangeable. If you wanna go a later head, gen 3 is the best port wise and the stock vlaves and buckets can handle alot of lift (more then gen 2) although i think you may have to do other work with water jackets? other option is gen 2 N/A head. if porting is going to be done then IMO its a much better head to work with. the gte port are to big. The NA ports are a better shape. a lil on the small side but if porting is on the cards then thats not an issue. of coarse you will need a gen 2 intake manifold aswell but im led to believe hooking up the ACIS isnt that big of a drama wich is a better system then TVIS IMO anyway just some food for thought
Yes, as Rev suggests gen3 IS better and should work fine without mods. 10.5 lol, just skim your head and block with some 87mm stock pistons. I did that and ended up with 12-1 but I think the machinist f/up and took too much off, so stick with the stock stuff and you'll be around 10-1 Ported = Polished? No need to cut anything from any of these heads barring a good clean up & deburring GTE gen1 bottom end is the same as yours, later GE/GTE's use the same bearings but the flywheel seal is bigger. I bought a set of 1S bearings the other day for $30, not many people realize it's the same parts as 3S-GE/FE/GTE.
im going to first see if my head is repairable due to the damage to the #4 combustion camber. if its not im going to use a gen 3 head.
update: i took apart my blown 3s-ge but i forgot to put pics up connecting rods #4 con. rod bearing #4 piston
