    Thanks guys.
If only I could convince them that my car's perfectly safe...

Since the time my car shot steam and overheated several years ago, my mom keeps thinking that my car might burst into flames or blow up or something. -_- They're always finding ways to discourage me from keeping that car... :/

    +1

My case was similar to yours. I knew my parents wouldn't allow me to buy this car so I bought it without asking them six years ago. They were not happy about it, especially because my brother had a serious crash in his st162 before, but I didn't care and now they really like it and they think it looks pretty. Maybe your parents will change their mind too :)

Meant to post this a while back, but kept forgetting til now:

If you guys have been wondering why I haven't been super active lately, it's because my parents were considering tossing my car away again. -_-
I was literally about to buy another car (We already signed a bunch of paperwork at a dealership!) when my parents decided that they didn't want to fork over a bunch of money despite the fact that they were going to make me pay them back for the new car. Long story short, I, once again, managed to convince them to let me keep and fix up the Celica. :) Gosh, my parents seriously need to stop changing their minds so often. :banghead All of that, and my birthday was last week. :cheers

Anyways, I once again found a motor I wanna swap into my car. (the seller is even willing to bring the motor to me! :D). Just gotta figure out how to get it in my car without my parents finding out since they've banned me from getting an engine swap... :aargh

    Any ideas?

In the meantime, who wants my 3SGE? lol

gen1 GTE for $650 USD delivered to me, or wherever I'd like. (He lives about 2 hours from me.) The motor has about 130k miles, and the turbo needs to be rebuilt. He is also giving me the ECU and wiring harness. Does that sound like a good deal? Or should I try haggling even more?

    Re: (To be) Hellaflush Celica

I'm not sure what engines are worth there, but $650 would be an awesome deal here!
Not sure about the mileage though, mine is at around 310k KM/190k miles and runs great. Toyotas are near indestructible though :p
With the ECU and harness it seems like a great deal to me, you could try haggling down for the turbo though depending what's worn out.

Wish I could find engines for that price in Australia lol

    Aaron.

nice! find an excuse to send it the shop and do it then =] say you need this done and my friend is gonna help me do it. drop the engine off at a friends house with the proper tools or is willing to help you do the work. its all a matter of having the right tools for the job. and i'd love your engine if celicaman doesn't want to pick it up first. =D

Re: (To be) Hellaflush Celica: Who wants my GE? lol

After doing some thinking, I've decided that it would be better to not go for this GTE... :/
The mileage is a tad high, and the turbo needs to be rebuilt; The cost of rebuilding the motor and turbo will probably end up being close, if not the same, as the cost of getting a JDM '185 or '215 GTE with low mileage... Don't really have that much money right now, so it'll probably be better to just hold off on the purchase for now...

    Sorry guys! :banghead :/

Although, in the case that I do get another motor, how would I ship my current GE to you guys?
