rye i actually would NOT race your gts in ice. if it was an alltrac i'd say do it but a FWD that has a tendency to fishtail is not a good candidate. the escort would be the better choice.

It's all good man I'm pretty good at driving in the snow...we get some pretty harsh winter's up here and I haven't crashed yet!

I'm sure it'll fishtail but I'll have fun doin it! :D

These cars are know to be quite good for ice racing. And generally you want to fishtail in corners on ice, similar to dirt track racing. The fishtail in corners is very controllable with FWD and good traction ie studded tires. Just give it gas through the corner and it's fine. Of course I am just going by my experience on asphault with a car set up to oversteer in the corners.

In my area the ice racers don't buy studded tires, they buy space-savers from the junkyard and stud them with bolts. Apparently this leads to speeds of nearly 200km/hr on an ice road course.

mine was always ass-happy in the snow and ice, if it got too far sideways it was gone. I guess if you get enough grip out of the front tires you can power yourself out of the slide before you get too far out.

about $455.95 plus shipping for a half cage...a more for a full cage.

do a search for Autopower Rollcages.

Well I contacted a local company through email that said they could do it.... I just want a half cage....nothing major.... The major part I need is just one mandrel bent tube for the main structure....everything else I can pretty much do myself....

My sister bought a 99 neon a couple years back, and the front side windows are almost black... Illegal as F here, but because the car is from out of state, they can't do anything about it... :) It's irritating for me to drive, so I haven't driven it much... I plan on slightly tinting my windows, but I have a vert, so it's going to be a little different... Less windows to tint... lol

oh cool, my cars black ext also. Was thinking about light front window tint... but hmmm. Heard some stuff about VI and crap.
    Don't need the hassle.

I think the difference between the two of us might be the fact it's a lot easier for you state's guys to get handguns, so the cops are more worried about being able to see into the vehicle....

That's true rye... We have a lot of hoodlum activity out here in Cali... Too many wanksters wanting to be gansters, when they were in fact, nerds all throughout school... lol I don't know... To me, it's much more cool to have a sick car, and play it safe, then have a nice car and get shot up by the local PD.... lol

Alright......back to work on this friggin thing soon....it's still cold as hell out but I'm getting too anxious!!! And at least there's no snow, but it blows having no garage!

Ok, so my car has sat with an empty tank of gas (i know, that's a no-no, but, oh well, couldn't afford to fill it before the winter lol), and the battery has been taken out and stored inside all winter....

What should I do before I try and get this thing runnin? Had a fresh oil change before it sat, so I don't think that should be an issue, unless a lot of shit has fallen to the bottom of the oil pan and it would just be best to drain it out...? I duno about that though...

Spark plugs could probably be changed, they're not so new, but not imperative I guess..... Then I need to get this damn wheel bearing fixed, then a nice etest, and ... wooo it never ends!! lol

Guess that's why most project cars take 10 years to do lol, oh well, I still love my 4th gen :D
