Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! Go back and get the sending unit and the dimmer switch !!!!! You'll need them to make it work.... at least to make it work with less stress..... along with the wiring harness plugs that go into the back.... :aargh
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! where's the sending unit and the dimmer switch? lemme read bgb first
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! sendimg umit is in under the back seat into the tank, if theres another one will you grab the sender unit from it and ill paypal ya?
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! Good score - but you'll have to pull the harness and tank sender if you ever stand a chance of getting it working Test all the LEDS inside too, most are dying. Strange the JDM even knows what gear you're in? http://www.st162.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=6934&p=97371#p97371
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! sending unit in the gas tank? can't i use the one i have? this one was from a CDM 3s-fe with an Auto as well. so that should take out some of the headache. i only had 15 minutes before the yard closed so i did my best on just getting the gauges first
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! The sender is a vital part in the gas gauge working properly. An analog sender doesn't send the correct signal. I made the same mistake when I found one. I got the plugs but forgot the sender... I went back for it and the car was gone... :aargh
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! well then. fuck my life because as far as i remember the first thing they do is strip the gas tank then the engine. canadian scrap yards suck. time to PM dave...
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! The one thing you have going for you is that it is a Canadian market thing... You still may find one at a dealership NOS or at another yard.... :fingersx
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! i bet it would cost me cheaper ask you to take out whatever i needed from the yards there, ship cost to here, plus $20 for your time. would that be possible? LOL
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! If I lived in Rhode Island or Stockton, CA..... Sure.... :hehe
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! :banghead LOL woops meh anyways i'm still going to try to get it to work. i have 4 months before i can just return it and ask for other items in exchange. by any chance do you have the wiring diagram/circuit for the cluster from a '87 BGB? I have the '88 and it only has the analog ones...
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! Dave is the only one I can think of that has snatched the pebble from that hand.... :bowdown :hehe Too bad the thread is gone... I think... If it is though, he will revive that part of it I'm sure..... I have the 87 BGB, but I don't think I can get it all on here... NY Kevin, I believe, may have them still archived somewhere..... I know he was trying to rebuild that part of the site....
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! why dont you just replace your dash harness.....its pretty simple and takes about two to three hours to do....go back and strip the harness.....about the gas gauge, use an aftermarket one for the time being.
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! Cuz the asshole of a yard I go to would probably charge me more for it. As far as I've read on Dave's digital dash thread in the electronics section, I'm only going to have a problem with the fuel gauge...and maybe the tach.
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! if theres another grab the sender for me and ill paypal you whatever it is!
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! -the 86 bgb i have shows the test voltages. the sender is simple. id wonder if you couldnt ad a resistor or something to make the signal compatable with an analog unit. -i guess if it were that simple dave would have done it by now. hey its worth a try though.
Re: eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT): surprise! going to try to try this out with a breadboard and try making myself a circuit board that converts from analog/digital
