eNtrax's 162 GT (FE/AT)

Well, i should explain everything. Back in August, my radiator exploded, no big deal, in the middle of switching from two jobs and a 16 hour day. Replaced the radiator to a new one, all is fine. Until when i was cruising, one of the clamps to the transmission oil cooler spat out of the radiator (guess it wasn't as tight as i thought). Result of that was loss of fluid, approx 3-4 quarts according to the trans place i went to to check it. By the time I noticed shit pouring behind me, it was too late, 2nd gear was having a hard time grabbing going from 1st-2nd.

This was a month ago, topped up the fluid, had the levels checked 3 times every week. Until this week, I started losing every gear. Its like a slipping clutch pretty much. I've been able to get away with it by feathering the throttle and using the 2 and L manually to control which gear i was in. Also, stalling the torque converter at stop lights made the grinding/slipping go away.

Today, it was just weird, in the morning, the first gear also started slipping bad, took until 5k rpm to get past 20km/h, barely made it to school. After school, before leaving my parking spot, I stalled the torque converter in an attempt to leave smoothly. But when I put it in reverse, nothing, it's as if i'm connected to Drive, BUT with the parking brake/lock on. So I pushed the car out of the parking spot, and it move forward now with 0 slipping in 1,3,O/D gears. And the selector is fucked now too??

So as follows:
P = parking lock + gear engaged to forward movement
R = parking lock + gear engaged to forward movement
N = first gear
D = works as normal (car doesn't go into 2nd gear so i have to let off the throttle so it goes to 3rd)
2 = works as normal, except 2nd gear is gone if i apply any acceleration, cruising on 2nd is fine.
L = first gear

What the hell is going on?

In the meantime, I'm gonna buy a 2nd celica, pending emissions testing before sale.

 

i kinda don't want to fix reverse, because now i can move forward perfectly except 2nd gear LOL. before i had a perfect reverse but slipping every gear forward

 

RESURRECT this old thread. if you guys remember, I traded this car along with another rustbucket 89 GT to get my GT-S now. he's gone off and sold the 89 but kept this one. we keep in touch so i just wanted to update you guys.

he's resprayed this car gunmetal, fixed the rust, put the whole st165 bodykit on and here's the good stuff:
ST215 Caldina 3S-GTE motor
5 speed swap
5 bolt GT-S hubs with 4 discs instead of the drums

-it's now being used as a race car, but it still passes emissions so it's also street legal. it's nice to see your previous cars turn glorious after you sell it.

 

He's an older fellow not wanting to bother with online stuff.
Just an update on my old car. Saw it the other week and it's quite the car now.

Leather interior was the latest update.

This car now runs 13.8 @ 102mph at the quarter mile.
