I really missed having legit BBS wheels so I picked up a set of 17x8 BBS Style 5's.

Why the 17" wheels lately? Look carefully at the last pic I uploaded with the XXR's. Then look at PhantomJDM's sig. Then look at my sig.

Yeah, I was planning on getting a new fender, but I have yet to find the right one in decent condition... :/

In the meantime, I'll just cut off the rust, and hide it underneath my ST165 side skirts. LOL

As for the old XXR's, I was gonna trade them for SSR's + cash on their end, but they flaked... :/
Now got two interesting offers, and am debating on whether to take the cash, or trade for RPF1's. haha

Finally got rid of the XXR's so I now have a little more money to fund the Celica project.
My friend randomly decided to call it "Mr. Celica" and for some reason, I actually really like that name since it was my dad's car, so I might start calling my car that. haha

My goodness, selling the XXR's was probably one of the most annoying and stressful sales I have ever made. -_-
I don't think I'll use craigslist, or sell replica wheels ever again... So many fckin' shady people trying to con me... :/

Once upon a time... or at least for the past few weeks when I had the ad on craigslist, I was receiving 5-10 texts a day asking whether I still had the wheels or not. I think I received close to 80 texts and emails for these wheels.
About 40 were lowball offers, 20 were trades (most of which were either unappealing wheels, wheels that didn't fit my car, or random junk like watches or cell phones), and 20 never responded after I texted them.

And my goodness, the people that actually decided to "get the wheels..."

1st person that was going to trade his beat up SSR's for my XXR's decided on the last day that he didn't want to fork over money on top of the deal anymore since he was broke. ( Was only slightly peeved by this)
2nd person never responds to my text after I agreed that I could meet up with him to sell the wheels. (A little more peeved)
3rd person just never showed up to the appointed spot, and never answered his phone or texts. (Was definitely peeved by this.)

And the 4th and final person... Gosh, even though he finally bought the wheels, I really wanted to just punch the freakin' guy...

While texting the myriads of people that wanted my wheels, this guy texts me saying that he REALLY wanted my wheels. He would text me every few hours asking if I still had the wheels or not even though I said that the wheels were pending sale. -_- He goes on to tell me multiple times that he would be willing to pay a certain price for my wheels if I held on to the wheels and sold them to him. I decided, fine, I'll be nice and let him buy it since he wants them so much (and because he was a fellow Celica owner, albeit with a 7th gen). I told him three times that the wheels would come with 4 tires, 2 bald, and 2 still usable. He agrees with this deal and proceeds with arranging a time and place to meet.

Now, the day we met up was the day I told my mom that I needed to sleep over at my friend's house for school related purposes. (which I did.) Only thing was that I've been hiding these car parts from her for the past month, and knew that I would be in BIG trouble if she found out I was selling them.

So the plan was to meet the buyer at a car meet by 8pm, and then go to my friends house by 8:45pm so that if my mom were to randomly decide to check on me (which she HAS done many times in the past), that I would be there, and everything would be fine. The b*stard doesn't show up until 8:20p, but when he did, he decided to waste ANOTHER 30 minutes of my precious time admiring the wheels, and calling several of his Honda buddies over to check out the wheels. After these guys finish drooling over the wheels, he decides to find the most bullsh!t reasons for attempting to haggle with the price he already promised he'd give me. -_- He complains about how 2 of the tires are bald, and how he should get a $50 discount for it. I had told this jack@$$ not once, not twice, but THREE FCKING TIMES earlier that the wheels would come with 2 freakin' bald tires! And this guy has the nerve to haggle with a price he promised to pay after wasting almost and hour of my time!!!

After firmly telling him multiple times that I would not budge on the price, and that if he doesn't buy, someone else will, he says that he won't buy them anymore...

I look at my clock. 9:00pm. First thing that comes to my head: "freakin' flakers. Oh well, at least I might be able to make it back in time in case my mom decides to swing by."
The moment I leave the parking lot, he texts me back saying "fine, i'll do it."

Relieved that I had a chance at finally getting rid of these cursed wheels, I then drove back to the area... only to find that he was not there, and that he had sent me another text with the haggle offer.

After a while, He eventually submitted to my firmness and said that he "had to go to the bank first to get my money".
Another 10-20 minutes pass, and now my mom starts calling me and asking where I am. Being that I didn't want to reveal that I was trying to sell my wheels, I had to lie to her, and tell her that I was at my friends house. She starts yelling at me for telling her that I had to study at my friend's house since she thought that I was only giving her excuses for hanging out with friends for the night. (She's pretty paranoid.)
The person finally texts back to me, and tells me to meet behind a store so that he could give me the money. By this time, it was approximately 9:20pm already, and I was already really sketched out by this guy and his multiple Honda buddies. So I tell him that if he wanted my wheels, that he would have to come to me to get the wheels...
I wait for another 10 minutes... and then my mom calls again...

"Andrew, where is your friends house."
I describe to her where my friend's place was.
Mom: "Is it the area with the gate"
Me: "yes"
Mom: "Where did you park your car?"
Me: "In the parking lot area there."
Mom: "How come I don't see it?"
Me: awww crap she's there...
"um, I decided to park in another lot"
Mom: "Let me talk to your friend's mom now."

Me: FFFFFFFCCCKKKKKK

I immediately hang up the phone and find that the guy finally came to me. He finally gives me the promised amount of money for the wheels, and I feel relieved for a moment that this guy and his Honda buddies didn't try to jump me...
Then I look at my phone...

"5 missed calls from Mom"

I swallowed my gut, walked into my car and called my mom so that she would stop freaking out...

It wasn't long before I ended up telling her the truth. She then proceeds to scream at me for half an hour before telling me to go home immediately.

It was 10pm by the time I arrived at my house, and as soon as I had walked into my room, the chastisement began... and continued until 12am. 0_o (I had school at 8am the next day.)
When all was said and done, she told me before leaving my room that I had to get rid of my BBS wheels, and that I was a retard for wanting to fix my Celica so badly. :'(


The next day, I receive a text from that son of a b*tch, saying that the wheels I had sold him were cracked, not powdercoated, and came with 4 bald tires instead of 2. THIS F*CKIN' PIECE of SH...
I had checked the wheels with several friends prior to selling them and knew FOR SURE that 2 of the 4 tires were NOT bald, and that the wheels did NOT have any cracks in them.
He then continues on with how "its unfair that I got punked on this deal" and that I "needed" to give him $100 back.

Him:
"Yea but now im stuck with a rim with a crack and them not being powdercoated on too they all need tires. All four are bald i need 100 dollars back from you. Yea i mean you can trust me i had them checked out i need 100 yet Well i need 100 bucks back its unfair that i get punked on a deal"​

Tired of the bullcrap, I decide to ask him for a picture of said "crack":

"Its a hair line crack near the center i had my unkl pressure test them"
Me: "No pic no trust"
Him: "well i dont have picture messaging if not i def would"​

He hasn't responded since...

Freakin' craigslist retards. Never want to deal with shady d@uchebags like this ever again...

On the bright side, after some time to cool off, my mom finally determined that I could keep the BBS's and do whatever I wanted with the Celica since I loved it so much that I had to hide so much from her.
Her only condition was that I not lie to her ever again.

And I lived happily ever after... or at least for a day since it's only been that long since she said that... LOL

Haha but yeah, gotta love Asian parents.
I was thinking of putting the wheels on eBay, but shipping prices would be a pain... Although now that I think about it, there is the no shipping option huh...
Maybe next time... If there is one... lol

As for the buyer, he was probably in his early 20's. Seemed like your stereotypical Latino ric... car-loving kid. (Although I can't really say "kid" since I'm pretty sure I'm younger than him. LOL)

Whatevs though. He hasn't bugged me since, so I can't really complain anymore. haha

So I'm once again in the market for a new motor. (albeit with parental permission and no shady mechanics to screw me over this time.) Here's what's been on my mind lately:

1. 3rd gen 3SGE. $1000 w/ Tranny, wiring harness, and ECU.
2. Some MR2 5SFE on craigslist. $300 w/ + Tranny, wiring harness, ECU, and axles. If I pick this up, I would rebuild it, and turbo it, so that will probably be ~$1500 total??? Then again, it IS from craigslist... 0_o
3. 4th gen Caldina 3SGTE. $950 w/ just wiring harness, and ECU. This would be the ideal, but I doubt I could swap this thing in for less than $2K... At least according to all the GTE threads and articles from Google searches... Still would need to source the sensors and all that junk right? Not to mention a new exhaust, and probably tranny since mine's all old and beat up...



I don't really plan on making much more power out of this thing for a while if ever as I have my turbo Chevy as my little sleeper. Just want a bit more oomph as well as reliability with the Celica. ~200hp would probably be enough for me. (I mean, the more the better, but at the moment, horsepower isn't really the issue; Reliability and swap cost are.)
That being said, I think the 3rd gen GE might be the motor for me, but will it really be a straight swap, or would I end up spending close to what I would spend for putting a GTE in/ rebuilding and boosting a 5SFE? And plus having two boosted cars vs one boosted and one N/A...

Oh gosh I'm rambling again... What do you all think? And yes, I will be attempting to put this in myself... Well with some help from friends... XD
