-yes, as far as the clunking goes, the new rear strut bar makes an excellet way to shake the car. but i honestly cant get it to make the "steel drum" one no matter what i do. 09 had the same thing. i do know that there is play in the rear bushings but im planning to swap those out. it sounds like either something on top of the tank is hitting the body or the body itself is flexing.....like a jar lid saftey popper thingy. ill have to drop the tank and have a look around. i know its not the exhaust as thats damn near solid mounted.

-as far as the tough start. i tested the afm, and got some funky readings. so this may or may not be the issue. it could be that i suck with a multi meter, or its bad. on 09 when i did the tps i had the same issue, i couldnt get the right readings and then swapped it out thinking it was bad but it wasnt. i do however thing this could acount for some of the "rich" smell im still getting...that or the lack of a cat.

-funny story about the plate on top of the back seat.....i honestly didnt think that the underbody coating was flammable...i mean really, wouldnt you use something non-flammable for that? i was welding it on and it was getin smokey, so i stopped. and it continued to smoke for another minute or two. i figured id go out. so i finnally go look under the car to see whats smoldering, and theres ALOT of smoke comming out between the top of the tank and the body. so as im staring at it its like something out of backdraft. WHOOOOOSH! right above the tank. so i do the "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit" out to the hose. crank it on and go running back into the garage. hosed down everything.
    -lesson learned :byodood

    :D :D :D
-kaminari has arrived! may get test fit pics up tomorrow. 1 issue with it so far...the rear bumpers are actually different between coupe and hatch. somewhere either i told my family the wrong thing or they ordered the wrong one....hey i thought they were the same anyway....either way the rear is the wrong bit. sounds like ill have to pay to ship it back and pay to have the other shipped up. gonna be like $300 or so to swap out. cheaper than ordering a new one i guess. its gonna look friggin sweet!

-also went to lunch with my old man today, apparently my ole lady wasnt heavy enough to help me diagnose the main rear banging i have....turns out it is actually the exhaust. just before the muffler the #2 suspension arm comes up and taps the pipe. so ill fix it or have it fixed when i get the kit fitted up. as the tips will have to clear the kit anyway (so maybe a touch lower).

    -test fit pics.
-i have to say ive never been crazy about the kaminari kit, its just the only thing you can still buy. but after putting it on, DAMN that front lip is awesome! i think its my favorite one now. sides are growing on me. they stick out about 3 inches from the body. im sure ill dig it more all once its together and painted. but again, the front lip is f'n rad! uber agressive.

Re: jwagner's project: "the dog" kaminari test fit pics up

-yep, its basically a "lip" kit. youll loose mudflaps and the lower side trim. i like having the lower front valance in there but im worried it will rattle. i may have to come up with a way to secure it. im really impressed with the quality of the kit.

-defo buy cliffs kit. i may end up having an extra rear lip for a coupe or vert.

-what are you doing about shipping cliff? i want to return mine (just the rear bit), but it looks like it would be cheaper for me to buy a new one rather than use usps, fedex, or ups to return it.

-kaminari is the only one that still does make a kit. you can order of there website. $495 for the whole kit w/o a spoiler, and $170 shipped to seattle.

-stig, you can see were it goes into the front bumper. it actually has mount holes that line up with the holes in the stock front. inside the vent holes in the bumper.

-im about to go out to montana for the holiday weekend. its me and my moms b-day on sunday. so i wont be able to get pics till next week... the coupe and i think the vert have a straight rear bumper. youll notice the hatch has a bit of an angle on each end. so the rear "skirt" sticks out under the angles. also the distance from the inside of the fender to the end of the rear bumper (in the center) is different. all news to me, but kaminari does list a different part for the rear. slight oversight i guess. i was gonna run the dog out there but weve decided that there is much less droning comming out of the landcruiser. :D
