Re: "the dog", working on a wire tuck

-thanks guys. it may get gone through again someday, that way i can move where it goes through the firewall and hide that. i was hoping to put the entire loom behind the dash, but theres very little room. i will say im halfway to where i thought it would be.

-got a new toy in the mail today.....now that im done wiring...lol...was kinda drunk friday night and decided i needed to buy something for my car, really, really badly. lol.

-ngk powerdex afx. ($250ish on amazon)

-the kit is super high quality, im suprised. be in this week, im going to have the bung welded in at the shop that did my exhaust, that way i can get the clunk fixed at the same time. was hoping it would fit into the din, but its about 1/8" to big. some mod will be needed. im not huge on pods.

A must on any modded EFI car I think
Pity they are so expensive, $90+ for crap here....

Interesting to see the results, I think you're rich without the EGR on EGR injectors

Re: "the dog" AFR Gauge Installed

-AFR gauge installed. you can see how i had to mod the din so it would fit. i had to make it so it could be slid out from the front since the calibration knob is on the back of the unit.

-my readings are so far unusuall. reading 14-15-16:1 at load. uber lean. ive tested everything efi related, no exhaust leaks, recalibarted the unit ect. everything is good but im still reading lean? if anyone remembers the dyno showed plenty rich. other than the fuel pump everything is the same. i guess ill have to re-check fuel pressure, and possibly take it back to my buddys shop and compare to their readings.

-also had the exhaust fixed. put in a flex pipe, new bung for the afr gauge, and fixed (dented) the bit over the rear suspension. NO MORE CLUNKS!!!!!

-once i work out all the bugs ill velcro it in so it will sit flush and hide the sticker.

    -its a pretty rad bit!

According to this the ECU, cams, exhaust etc are thirsty, need to figure out which is more accurate and then
you can tell me if the AFM mod works.

Re: "the dog" catch can on the cheap

found this trick on mr2oc. so for about $16 bucks and a trip to home depot i made this bit.

-its an in-line air filter like you would put off the outlet of an air compressor, then two 3/8 npt to 3/8 barb ends. took about 3ft of hose. ill probably move it once i figure out exactly what im going to do with the intake. its about a weeks worth of oil/water in there (~100 miles) seems to be about 90% water.

-for now the land cruiser needs some attention, bought new shocks ($408), should be here in about a week.

-a couple of days after the exhaust was re-worked i developed a whistle under load. turned out the brand new flex pipe was leaking. got that replaced and am showing a bit richer on the afr. so some adjustments will be made.

Re: "the dog" catch can on the cheap

Thanks to the stig I'm now rolling JDM corners. The ole lady also finally got me my b-day present 6 mos late. Hella comet 450 amber fog's. these were discontinued and Very hard to find in amber.

-The p.o.'s grille conversion drove me nuts, wasnt fitted quite right, flip ups rubbed the grill, and had rusty dry wall screws for attachment. plasti-dipped the new grill. now i have post grill with pre "celica" bit and eyelids....and jdm corners.

pics. barrrrg ok ill post tonight or tomorrow, photobucket is being a pain and i gotta go to work.

    Copy/Paste

    SH*T!

-well something is different. as you can see in the pics 3 bolt holes are the same. the ones on top and the one toward the front of the car. the 4th is not the same. you can see the difference in the comparison pic. there is also a small bump out on the new one that will interfere with the engine mount. pretty sure it can be made to work though.

-so the question is this....are the ge and gte covers the same? or did the mr2 turbo come with a gen 2 gte? or is the mr2 gte different because of mounts or something? either way it looks like the timing belt cover #3 (the steel one behind the gears) will need to be swaped for whatever is correct so it matches. hopefully its same gen with a different cover. still waiting on gears anyways so ill end up getting all the parts and doing it all at once.

-to bad i was getting all jacked up to drive it to work today as its clear skys.

-its definetly (sp?) workable and i think its gonna end up looking great.....also another great reason to ditch the p.s. system.

    fresh off the boat (plane)!

-also got gen 2 timing cover #3. hopefully this will work. if not it should be easy to mod.

-and mr2 alt bracket. dunno if this will work or not. personally i think its worth a shot. i'd like to remove the entire p.s. system and move the alt to the p.s. pumps current location. this is a bit more of a long term one. gears will probably go on this weekend.

    mmmmmm yummy!

the alternator bracket will work but you also need the mr2 crank pulley. mxp_57 did it and it worked fine.

id love to do it but no PS in these things is crazy tough IMO

    Uber nice, much jealous

I fitted a gen1 cover to the gen2 head the other day just to check and it went on fine,
    so no problem fitting it

Yeah, you need the MR2 pulley and alt brackets, I'd like a elecrtic p/s pump too.
Pretty sure just about anything would work and you could switch it off when you felt like it

i shall be investing in a set of those pullys....

-i was going to try to see if i could mod the bracket to fit the stock pulley, that way i dont have to find a good one or have it balanced for the motor. i will if i have to but it worth a look. one note is that the mr2 bracket is friggn heavy, probably something like 8lbs. but i think lowering the alt will make a bigger difference than the added wieght handling wise. not to metion cleaning up the bay.

-yes ill be interested to see how the p.s. delete will turn out. i will do the full on rack disassembly ect. i really dont mind my car uncomfortable, i can always drive the truck. honestly if i see another drip of p.s. fluid on something im gonna sh*t. just dont even wanna deal with it anymore. ill save the parts just in case but im pretty sure ill be happy.

-sean. yep there super nice. id like to get a scale to check the difference from stock. they cant be that much lighter can they?
