It may be a good idea to pull up your carpet each spring and get rid of the salt build up from the winter

Well its not that great but the strut is still in there pretty good. Give me another week and that will all be fixed.

I think I should just ship you a whole car.......... :)

If you really wanted it I have another hanging from the ceiling in my garage.

Unfortunately neither of the dashes is perfect both have started to crack (red arrows) and both are starting to bubble (green arrows)

Instead of buying table salt, scoop the salt from under your carpets and put that in your salt shakers; gold mine under those carpets.

Is there anyway the bubbling? Mine is bubbling around the vent holes for the front window.

    Re: ST162-7254182

Well as long as its dry its not really hurting anything but if you have any sort of hole anywhere in your
floor or firewall then driving at 100 kph will force water into your floorpan and then that salt is a big problem.

 I don't use salt. Salt is bad for your health, its also bad for your cars health.

    Re: ST162-7254182

Not that I know of. You would have to get some sort of glue underneath the bubble and then hold/clamp the area
until the glue has dried. If you were going to try that I would suggest useing a heat gun to warm the bubble up a bit
    so it is more pliable.

    Re: ST162-7254182

Todays progress.....I'm getting old and lazy so I got an electric jack.

That has allowed me to get a minimum of 19" of clearance under the car. I have to jack the front
then back of the car up to 10" and then repeat the process all over again to get the additional 9"
but it makes life under the car so much easier.

Here I'm imagineing I'm in some sort of rally and have just flown over a hill at about 150 kph
    [IMG]

Some of the bits Toyota decided wern't worth $1 of paint
    [IMG]

In addition to those parts theirs a bar under the dash that is visible in some other pics I have posted
and the brake pedal assembly, clutch pedal assembly and gas pedal assembly that rust but I have
allready got spares of those restored.

After a trip to my media blaster

Yeah I don't add salt to anything. Only salt I have is what's in the food already.

Hmm. Is the two pieces? As in a plastic under piece with the vinyl covering on top? If so, is it possible to peel off the vinyl top and re-glue the whole thing? Or would it just ruin it all?

I can't believe how much progress you've made on this car; it's crazy. It just gets better and I can't wait for more updates.

    Re: ST162-7254182

So my garage is 30' long and 14' wide and I still have a hard time finding places to do things.
I had to squeeze a line for hanging parts in between 2 rows of tools.

All the parts that were previously media blasted are now treated with a rust inhibitor.
The lighter grey piece has yet to be treated. Don't know how well this stuff really
works but when you paint it on metal it gives of a sulfery smell and certainly does at
least have some kind of reaction to the metal. after putting the coating on the metal is
still a light grey but after about 15 minutes the metal darkens right up.

As far as the dash is concerned I highly doubt you could peal off the cover and get it back on.
If you did manage to do it I would have to guess you'd end up with more bubbles and wrinkles
than you started with. The dash is cracking from 21 years of sun so I imagine the cover is getting
    pretty brittle.

    Re: ST162-7254182

Well the picture doesn't get much better under the car.

The piece hanging down they call a frame rail ???? but to me its really just a stiffener
for the floor. Its totally toast from the firewall back. Oh well no biggy is an easy fix, just
glad I got a sheet metal bender.
