Yesterday I had some fun with a friend. He has a 350Z which is a V6 3.5litre. He has a Nismo exhaust system fitted so we decided to run through a tunnel...twice :). Man o man what a sound that thing has, it beats my sound I must admit, but it's not just sound that matters. He felt my boost as well being pushed back by it lol :).

Today I checked my car for any strange things as I still do every time as it run only about 500km's since the swap in december... It's leaking minimal IC fluids but know where it is and have to re-attache the hose to clear this. It is also leaking cooling fluids at the T-piece from the upper cooling hose. Had to use the T-piece as I use the 3sge radiator without the extra outlet for the turbo... So I plan on putting on samco ST205 hoses on it and re-assemble the T-piece with new tighteners. THat should clear it.

I also noticed oil level is just about half now and I thougt we topped it off on full, so it's using some oil....hope it doesn't get worse but don't want to worry too much as I only drive it 2000km's a year max.

But we had a lot of fun yesterday :). No video or pictures though...sorry :)

I spotted a 370Z Roadster the other day, I actually like these cars and will take the convertable with the 7 speed automatic with paddle shifters thanks :naughty

Why would it be using so much oil ( GULP )

Whaaaaaaat, no pictures or video............... YOUR FIRED :lol

Nope...put it in as I got it from Rich...should have been good as I was told. If the worst happens... It will be a rebuild of my own block or save for Red top beams with Blitz SS :) But that last thing will probably be a dream for life. I only drive 2000km's a year so if it uses 1 liter / 1000 km I'm ok with it...'isch....

well, today I received my HKS Super SQV BOV type 1. Got it used from a friend of mine as I wanted the real deal but not the real 300 euro's it costs over here. :)

He's rebuilding his Carlos Sainz ST185 (www.turbocelica.nl) to be a monster so will use a newer type as everything else on the car including total engine build is brandnew.

Anyways, as soon as I have my vacuum question answered I can do the test. The T-piece was a b*tch to fit...had to take the whole IC loose :) lol and called the thing many names I'm not allowed to use online.

    Here are pic's :

So, I did a testdrive today and the BOV is addictive !!!

But still after turning off the car it throws out some coolant ... but where??? The radiator is after an hour still under pressure and if loosening the cap, coolant comes out and I hear something happening in the overflow thank...so that should work as well. anyone?

The only place it can trow out coolant if there is no leak, is the overflow tank's pipe.
Did you change your thermostat? My thermostat was partly stuck once on my previous engine, and it didn't cause any overheating on short distances (so I could not spot it's not good), but the water boiled in my overflow tank and it was dropping out water too if I stopped the car, especially in hot weather.

    Your car sounds awesome :)

well, my trd sports thermostat is waiting for me so I hope that fixes it. Same time I want to put the ST205 coolant hoses on. Maybe all the little things make a big difference :).

    Thanks for the compliment :)

So I thought the overflow hose from the radiator to the overflow tank was stuffed but after taking it out it wasn't... was some dirt in the tank but didn't cause any blockings... why is there a pressure cap on the overflow tank though??? Do people use the normal overflow tank from the 3sge with the 3sgte?

not yet, but my friend who I bought it of said the car might have a minimum hickup when highboosting and going of the gas. But will let you know when I've driven it more.

The JDM ST165 does not have a pressurised overflow, I still don't know why the others do?

I think your problem is the fans switch off when you shut down and the heat builds up in the radiator, do you have a turbo timer?.
I think making the fans seperate and live will solve that problem, even my car switches the fans back on after standing for a few minutes, so I want to connect them directly to the battery.

Looks lie we are in the same boat, surrounded by ST20x's and ST231's leaves me wondering what happened to all the ST16x's and ST18x's

Interesting thoughts...I cleaned the pressurized tank so will put it on again and testdrive it. If it again spills the coolant fluids the second try will be with the normal tank, maybe the pressure cap is causing the coolant to overflow on a weaker point as the overflow tank cap.
That said, means I still need to re-check all coolant hoses for weak points as well...

put the tank back on today and filled her up (without running as it's evening here and the car makes a "little" noise :). Also took of the dripping hose of the IC and cleaned that and put it back on with a new hoseclamp. I think it's not leaking anymore but will see.

I also switched some radiatorcaps so to be sure the one on the rad will work I put on the one that I had on it with the 3sge in it. So have to testdrive it later this week and see what's happening.

afaik all early st165 have came without the metal overflow part , and there where some sort of dealer free of charge upgrade... and then all cars got pressuriesed overflow system...

use higer pressure caps and low temp termostat... .. and see..
