Went for a drive yesterday. Drove to my buddy that did the swap (about 60km single trip so the engine got warm ;) ) and all went well, driving without boosting on the highway to get it good warm since I didn't drive it for 2,5 months. Suddenly a rattling kinda noise !!! I totally freaked out as it sounded like a dying turbo in the car (went up when revving and responded to the throttle). I was at a gassation within 1000 meters so i decided to stop there immediately and called my buddy. I throttled 2 times and the car responded as if nothing was going on except for that really loud noise... So he came after half an hour....started the car..still there but I thought it's not really near the turbo, maybe near the dynamo...so he revved it twice and it was gone...never to come back....very very strange...140km's later still didn't come back...

So we drove on to his house, he in his st185 and I in my lone wolf... We played a bit on the highway...he in 4th and I in 5th at about 130 km/h and guess what... we went on the same untill he had to change gear and it was bye bye... hahaha. But in corners when going of the highway...bye bye lone wolf...the 4wd is real fast in corners and I'm not sure enough to push her to its limits wihtout a descent coilover set or so.

btw...230/hour...easy as if it's nothing, but decided not to go faster than that... lol :) I'll do that in july when I'm in germany for a short holiday.

I had some coolant fluid issues so we thought to have sorted that at his place as one of the clamps on the hoses was loose....came home, nothing to see, looked at the car an hour later...quite the amount of coolant fluid on the floor !! Found out today that there was another one totally loose...I guess when swapping things can be forgotten as well... I checked as far as I could see if others where loose but most are not the screw type but normal type so I guess this is it...

Another interesting story on the way back home was a volvo 850 sedan...I thought "go away to the right side of the road so I can pass and hit the throttle !" and when he did go the the right, I hit the gas and guess what...so did he !!! And we went up the same !!! hahaha, it had a big exhaust but besides that it was a total sleeper wiith a big turbo. We both had thumbs up and played a bit and went up the same so I guess it has alot of power since the volvo is not really lightweight ! Anyhow, it was big fun for both of us. :)

So far the story :) can't wait for spring to come !

When stationary it throws out some "black"stuff which gets less when the engine is warm. It dirties the pavement :) so I put a box behind the car lol. I guess it is excess fuel as it is using the st185 fuelpump.

I checed for leaks under the car, but no more new drips or any fluids so I guess I solved the coolant leakage issue :) Happy me !

    that's it for now.

    haha, thanks guys !

Love the colour too but took me a while to get used to it, but it all fell inplace when I replaced the brown interior with this. I see I forgot to put in some screws in the interior and still have to swap the handle thing at passenger side on the roof...hope I still have the black/grey one :)

One of my favourite threads Roy
Is this Alwayz complete motor or just parts?

Strange my colour (8E4) isn't even listed (Dark blue metallic). I think Rickstar has it too

St185 pump should make the same pressure, at least I mean the regulator will regulate it to 3 bar.
Strange that the FE motor runs higher fuel pressure than the GE/GTE

My cars exhaust have done the same, I used to have a big black mark on the garage wall but now it's outside I got to be carefull not to leave anything lying behind the car or it gets sprayed black and wet.
Maybe leave a wooden box standing in the garage to catch the carbon

I was tempted to fit my GTE motor at one stage too, but a country with a max limit of 100km/h means TEMS seldom gets to see 4000rpm or I'm in big trouble with the law.
Damn I wish we had autobahns, even on the track I get 185km/h before having to slam the brakes.
Need to find an abandoned runway for some high speed runs?

TEMS feels like a racehorse stuck in a stable, I don't know how owners of exoticars can drive around at 50km/h all day - it drives me nuts

Minor update, replaced the rubber wiperpart at the wiper for new ones from Mr. Toyota. I noticed the big dealers don't sell them anymore, they only sell the complete set at double the price.... thanks to the small dealers who still do and have a heart at old celica's :).

btw, part 87245A-2B430 ST165 LHD 1, Hose, heater water inlet A is not available anymore...anybody has a new spare or know the dimensions of the hose for universal replacement?

Hey Roy, just curious. You get alot of heads turning when you drive that beauty? :D

I don't really know...I drive too fast to see that !

But seriously..it's not that exotic here as in other places, only in better shape then all the other rusty rides T16 over here which people don't notice. But I noticed the last 2 years almost all T16's dissappeared so maybe this year it's a headturner.

Well I bet your car is a headturner! No one really knows these 4th gens over here either and it still turns heads even at the condition mine is in. Something about these cars that command a fairly good presence enough to be a head turner.

It's been my experience that people who notice the gen4 appreciate the shape/looks
They have no idea how old it is and most won't believe you if you told them.

Yes I hate you and the autobahns, at least in Africa we had wide, flat toll roads with no cops. Once at 180km/h I got overtaken by an 18 wheeler - no kidding

No doubt, as I've said many times before, this car has aged exceptionally well. Making it unique and it is why I love this car :D
