I just want my cars to look good and sometimes that means spending a little cash :)

nope, It has none of those.

I didn´t swap the rings but I swapt all seals and gaskets in the engine.
the 3rd gear was fine and I replaced the syncro for the 5th gear. The bearings were all in stock exept one witch I specially ordered
and the bearing cost alone was about EUR 680.
I ordered the outer CV joints on ebay but they didn´t fit (I think the USA type has A different CV joints than the European type)
I´m looking for th right joints and I´ll take pics when I´ll change them.
This was the only picture I took when we changed the wheel bearing but I have to change one of the hub an I bought a kit with bearing
so I´m gonna replace all that when I get the right CV joints and I´ll take pictures of that ;)

My rear brakes work fine I just put the car on a brake tester, when I took those pictures the car hadn´t been driven in about 2-3 months so the discs had started to rust a bit but it came right of when I started to drive it again.

Yeah it´s expensive but it´s new so I don´t have to worry about it any time soon.
and those are the full prices for the bearings before I get my Toyota employee discount ;)

here we are installing the tailpipe after we finished the engine.

I didn´t like the old viper arms where you have to use screws to put the viper blades on.
I wanted the clip on blades so I got arms from a corolla and used them to change the original arms.

then i got neoform viperblades, they work so mutch better.

Did you check UNDER the dash?? The rust eats his way under it too the points where the dash pins in. Mine were both gone... If you do it with the windscreen out it's much easier !

Looks similar to mine was, those rust areas with the screen out.A car well worthy of saving and no sunroof issues!Brilliant

The numbers will also be different but the most obvious is the I/C mount near the alternator bracket, note the two holes for the GTE T/B stay, also the flat area in front of the distributor tells me this is a 1111 88380/1.
It seems these heads replaced the #1111 88360 heads on later cars and there is a definite torque advantage

Yes, all is not as it seems, Fernando and a few others have it as well. Apart from the cams and valve springs there is a huge difference in the inlet porting
    GE
    [IMG]
    GTE
    [IMG]
It's a bit like the 4A guys all opting for the small port heads nowdays and making more torque

There are tons of rust pics to study here - http://s493.photobucket.com/albums/rr292/_MrMagoo/Cars/Toyota Celica/162 TEMS/Rust/?start=0
Water normally gets in at the bottom of the screen and runs down the firewall on the sides
    [IMG]

I'm afraid your rust battles are only beginning.....

Im sorry i am lost for words.
This thread is really good. The car looked a little run down but you have put a lot of work into it.
Was it difficult trying to get the rust from the hatch rubber fixed?
And with the rusted hole under te passenger seat did you ever have passe gers in the car tenfind the hole and think how clise they actually were to touching the road?

    Thanks man:)
It was a bit difficult to fix the rust for the hatch rubber. fortunatley my brother Is a realy good welder and fabricator
so it wasn´t to mutch of a problem, it just took a little time.
I saw the hole in the floor right after I bought the car and we went right away to fix it, I never took any passengers in the car
until it was fixed. I didn´t want any passenger to think they were riding with the flintstones;)

I´m currently looking over the last bunch of my pictures so I´ll post them pretty soon..

It´s pretty close, but I think that in my mind the car will never be finished.
this car is bound to be my project for life;)
I have alot of Ideas that I want to do. for example, I really want to have it resprayed but it´s crazy expensive to
have a car fully painted in Iceland.
how mutch would it cost to do it where you guys are? (just want to compare)
I have never prepared a car for paint so if I would just show up whith a car and do nothing myself it would cost about
EUR 4.500 - 5.500 depending what shop I go to and if they have to fix any dents or rust. but if I would prepare it, it would be around EUR 1.600 - 2.500.
    that´s pretty steap...

5000 euros is about £4,000 in England. This amount would get you a first class job with change ! £2000 to £3000 is about the average price of a full car respray. It all depends how far you want to take it, as in taking windows out, trims off etc.

that´s what I thougt. It´s tough to live in a little country and restore a car.
but one day It will be painted. I´ll have to try to use my connections for working for a car dealership:)
