http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2237816/2 I'm totally doin this..but i think i will my hole a wee bit bigger and glass in a mesh screen in the back
I find this quite an interesting mod, since that's the general location where my re-routed intake duck is. Maybe there's some aftermarket vents that would fit there on both sides? -K
So what happens when the headlights are on? It becomes useless? Meh..It looks too small to even do anything but I like the idea I guess...
I think 2 filters is overkill. Any hood vents would help keep the engine cooler and bring in more cold air though. Yep, probably not too functional with the lights on. I agree this particuliar one might be too small. I found some fender vents that would fit there, but I think they look kind of silly. The vent style on the red celi (on the front page and on the page header) might look cool on the headlights. Honestly, I'm only entertaining the idea since the lights may be less expensive to purchase from a 'yard and then mod as opposed purchasing a hood adding vents. -K
Meh..I doubt a vent would even do ANYTHING to our 135 hp ge's let alone an fe....but to each his own I'm sure my hood vent isn't that functional other than on a hot summer day too though......
I agree on the 2 filter deal..thats just dumb IMO I saw a cfm flow chart on a 3" x 3" k& n air filter vs a 9" x 5" air filter and it was within 5% of the same amount. I did find a site that makes for my soop Too bad someone dont make a CF one for us.. http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/s ... 9_full.jpg And if you look at his other mods..he has the sleepy eye mod so even at night the air stills flows through the headlamp cover..but during the day would prolly get the most air.But whos drag/autox's at night?..And thats when you need the most air.
Like I said, right below that DS vent is my duct that connects to the filter. http://st162.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t ... c&start=15 If I could fine a hood at the local 'yard, I'd do hood vents, but the chances are slim to none. -K
ya know what..i think i may do that to compare 1/4 mile time..thatd be interesting to see before and after
I went outside and checked out that idea of removing the entire assembly, negitive on that one cheif.there is a steel wall behind that housing and unless you cut that out..it wouldt work.
So i went ahead and mapped out my ""U" on my headlight cover..this is how it goes.. left - right side went 1 1/2 from the outside of the cover on the top of the cover i also i went inward a 1 1/2" So it came out to be a 7 1/2 wide by 4 1/4 deep Only see really one problem with this, look at the right side of the cover. . . . Since our headlight covers are not square..the right side goes from 1 1/2" to 1 3/4's..So do you think i should leave it how it is or follow the body lines with the cover and cut into the openign area? *That means the the opening part would be bigger at the top and 1/2" smaller at the bottom [part closest to you]
