How do you "Burp" the cooling system (3S GE)?

    "SOLVED"
Final Update. The real problem it turns out was the EFI Water Temp Sensor (not the coolant temp sensor) ... f you recall this was one of the first things that I replaced. Well the crap part from AutoZone was either defective, or not of the same specs as the factory. I eventually grabbed the original and cleaned it up real good and like magic all the spiking and roughness were gone. This was last Thursday, and I've been piling the miles on since then without a hiccup or glitch. Plus all the other good shit that I did while it was deadlined (new starter, repaired exhaust mani, new radiator, "new" cluster, etc, etc...). Anyway I'm quite pleased at this point, so "Thanx a bunch" for all you suggestions and advice.

Like someone on this forum once said "anything under halfway on the temp gauge is your friend" I just figured out what he meant...
After recently replacing the water pump and timing belt on the Burpcar I was occasionally getting a slightly higher temp reading; and sometimes the AC compressor wouldn't come on. The car however was running cool, but it felt like there was a lack of power when the guage showed above half. On a whim I took out the EFI temp sensor and discovered that the housing was cracked. Now that I've fixed that the gauge stays rock steady at 11:00 and the 3SGE runs strong all the time; also the AC is back to normal. I concluded that the bad sensor was giving false signals to the ECU making it think that the engine was hot and not allowing extra load on the motor so no AC compressor load... Anyway I'm happy.

Had a couple temp issues recently ... The car was pushing coolant out though the bottle but it wasn't returning to the radiator. As a result a big air pocket was created and the temp gauge would go up to red. This happened a couple times but it never got too hot. To burp the system I let it cool then opened the EFI temp sensor enough to let put any air in the top of the engine, then, and this us important, I made sure that there was no air in the line to the coolant bottle... Also a new radiator cap. So far temps been holding at half way or below.
