    i've had trans problem for a good 2 months now.
    i was on highway 1 just cruising at 90ish (3-OD gear) and i was trying to pass someone, so it downshifts to (3), but when i was done passing someone, it stayed in that gear (3). By the time I got home, it was only able to go into 1 and 2. After I got home, I was already panicking. I gave it a 15 min rest. After that I tried it again, driving really slow, but (2) was no more.

    I've been able to cheat the trans before to shift to the next gear by just letting off the gas for a good 2 seconds, when it shifted, it was a smooth yet accurate shift, not sloppy. It's just the matter of it "thinking" to shift. It seems to me the same problem as Tracy's auto box. I have no car for now lol...

    I might go and see if they can find/replace that gear for cheaper than a used/junkyard one. If the cost >1000, I might just sell it.

    get the s54 box! different gear ratios better for racing. better response and acceleration =] but you'll eat more gas though. doing 80 will shoot you a little over 4000 rpm in 5th. i know, i have one :cool

    80 = 128km/h and that's fine with me LOL. most hondas i play with around here only play around 70-130 pulls anyways.

    I'm going to try the governor gear fix first. if all else fails, s54 box. where and which models does it come in? highway speeds here are 50mph anyways, and i normally cruise at 55-60mph, which is roughly 2700-3000rpm if my math is correct.

    damn, the auto box i have has such long gears lol. 0-70 in first, 70-121 in second, 121-185 in third...LOL with overdrive 100km/h used to be 2100rpm

    I got a spare 92 camry auto tranny that may have parts you could use.
    If you tell me what you want and post some pictures of where to find
    the parts on the tranny then I'll see what I can get for you. The trannys
    just scrap metal to me so if theres any good parts I'll just charge you
    shipping.

    thanks dave, i'll let you know as soon as i know what things i need. anyone have a diagram of the innards of the a140L?

    WOW that sux :sad There is and I do, but you'd need the whole BGB section. Grab a BGB, you'll need it anyway if you plan to do the work yourself.

    i have a photocopy of the whole 88 bgb, i just can't find the binder with that section

    That's the AT section and almost 180 pages, you'll need to find those pages :fingersx

    i'm missing a whole binder of my photocopied bgb, which is a total of 3 binders. anyways. i only need this to get a clue on the whole picture. basically, i'm gonna bite the bullet and pay 1.8 hours of labour + $37 part. That's the quote I got from a tranny shop. That's for the governor gear fix. This celi is a daily and I need it to be on the road...

    it's right in front of where the driver's side drive shaft goes into the transmission.

    also on this big picture, this part is the ONLY plastic/nylon gear in the whole transmission WHY MR.T WHY!

    I checked the tranny from my 92 camry but it does not appear to have a govenor assembly on it.
    I am assuming that round cover with the plug coming out is the speed sensor and the govenor
    should be to the left of it
