    Aaron's ST162 - Choosing a Colour Scheme!

This is my little beastie, I took these pictures just after me and the missus got back from a date at Skateaway
I did a bit of detailing earlier today and thought I'd get some pictures before it got dirty again :driving

Damn it's hard taking pictures in the dark :p

You can see in some of those where I sanded and covered up some rust on the driver's side door. Don't worry, I have a set of mint doors sitting under the house waiting to be repainted and bolted up

I just got my license about a week ago so I've been having a blast finally being able to drive around.

I put some brand new balljoints and new second-hand hubs with near-new bearings in 2 days ago and god damn does it make a difference! It'll be even better when I get an alignment :D

Can't wait to start painting, need to pick a scheme, gather supplies and find a good place nearby that'll let me rent a spray booth.

I'm thinking black with green trims to go with green underglow and grille lights. Too ricey?

Black car with green trim would be ok. Just not neon green, that would be ricey. Got yourself a good looking project there.

Still got a bit of deciding to do..

I was thinking since I have about 100 green LEDs I could make the rear spoiler, bump rubbers etc.. green and have green keyhole LEDs so I don't scratch my paint trying to find the hole, green underglow for show and various other green lights just for fun.

Nothing solid yet till I do a mockup on Photoshop, might even go orange or something

Not keen on the glow and grille lights -too much NFS?, trick is to customize without making it look customized - make sense? The glow etc will only make you a target for the cops and as a bald guy in a stock car I get pulled over often because they think a stock gen4 is "racey"

    Here's one with orange rims
    [IMG]

I think everyone here will vote for white rims, I have a spare set but haven't tried it yet

ditch the neon glow idea.....do you like paying tickets?.....ive been there, here its 186 for each offense and it took a few of them to get me to change my mind.......the grill lights will get you quickly pulled over.....yes ive heard the "its only for the shows"....but honestly you'll run them on the street.......and that will be a no-no with the po-po's......

black with green trim?????? not sure....why not photo-shop the idea before committing to it...not trying to rag on your idea but its easier if you see how ugly it might be before you do it....it might not look to bad tho either.

Maybe its different in Australia? My cousin lives there with a suped up STI and goes all crazy with that crap.

    Me too
The set of 16" wheels came with the car, I got the stockies from my parts car.
The reason for the odd setup is that 2 wheels on both cars had next to no tread left, so I took the good ones and slapped them on.

When I can afford a set of Nankang NS-II's I'll put the 16"s on both ends.

The orange looks sweet, and white wheels will always look good

I'm trying to keep away from tinting any of the lenses, it's illegal but people do it anyway. It looks pretty nice but it'll be just one more thing to get pulled up for, and being on P plates they won't hesitate :aargh

I used to play a lot of NFS before I knew anything about cars, I think I might still have a bit of the NFS mentality hanging around up in there :p

That bumper on the black/white one looks pretty nice, I might get my Dad the anything-to-do-with-building-and-fixing-shit legend to help me build something like it when I trek back up their way with the missus.

I was just about to fire up Ye Olde Photoshop to give it a go actually :D

I know what you mean, I'd be temped to turn all the glow on cruising on the highway at night for kicks. And tickets would be a pain in the ass having a pretty low income :byodood

Eventually once I've finished painting and stuff I want to be able to compete in show'n'shines, I want to be able to see my reflection in the paint!

That's pretty much my goal, something rare and different that I can be proud of.

Did I mention that mine is the only 4th gen that I see on a daily basis?
Whenever I see another one I wave, both my missus and most of the time the driver is like wtf why are you waving?

Nah I hardly see any car with underglow or grille lights, plenty of unneeded wings though.
I'd like to see more glow and show, it gets boring with the same old bogan cars driving past all the time.

I think the scene in Perth is more into glow and show, in Brisbane it's mostly badly kempt Silvias and Skylines and V6 Commodores with chevvy badges :barf

Hey Aaron, on the right rear, do you have a full set of those rims ? Could I see a nice close up pic of one and what size are they ?

Yep, got the full set, covered in gutter rash from the previous owner, but nothing a bit of sanding and paint can't cover up

16x7J they say, not sure about offset. Running Nankang NS-II 205/50s.

Too Star Wars? I don't see it, if anything too TRON :p

I'll try out some more colour combinations and see how it goes!

Nah, small on the back somewhere - I can make the Twincam 16 logos and rear logos in green which would look like stock.
Light blue also works well on a black backround

Tron? nah - it looks like Raving Lord Sutch's X-wing fighter!

Any suggestions for a better colour scheme? I like "Green Machine" personally, but I'd like to see some different colours on my car before I decide.
