And I thought my 49 year old eyes needed glasses but I think
we better get you a pair first.

What I fixed was the angle of the tube as shown in the following pictures

    Re: ST162-7254182

I actually just weighed it the other day since its pretty much complete
now and it came in at 9 LB's without the lights. It's pretty rock solid so
if I really wanted I could probably cut that down to 6 or 7 LB's if I was
    really trying to save weight.

at least with the windshield removed you can repaint the entire car without taping it over now. :D im assuming you are going to remove the windshield because of that gigantic hole at the bottom of it.

    Re: ST162-7254182 "Dirty Deeds"

If by sil you mean the piece under the door that I call a rocker panel then it really all depends on what
you find when you cut out the hole. You need to cut back to good metal so it may be a tiny little hole
on the surface but once you start poking away it may grow.

First thing I did today was cut some re enforcing panels to go inside the rocker. This is overkill but at
least in the back area here it will give extra strength to the jacking point.

I this image you can see the outer rocker panel on the left and the bracing that goes inside it.

I got all the fender pieces tacked in place, just got that once piece behind the rear wheel
at the bottom to make and the drivers side is pretty much finished
    [IMG]

and all the rocker pieces tacked and some seams welded

    Re: ST162-7254182 "Dirty Deeds"

If you got the right parts its pretty easy.

For me I'm just going to swap the 2 pieces pictured below, very simple 7 (manual)
or 8 (power) bolts and your done.

The proper way to do it would be to do both power windows and power door locks
but I don't need power locks anymore. You would want to do both because the interior
door panel is different. So to do it properly you would want

    Driver and Passenger
-interior door panels handles & trim pieces
    -power window mechanisms
-power door latches and maybe their rods
    -door wiring harnesses
    -power window & lock switches

That should pretty much be it you may need some of the little plastic plugs that are in the
door panel especially the ones for where the door handle screws go into I'm not sure if
their in the same locations for power and manual doors.

Since I don't need power door locks I'm probably going to keep my manual door panels
and do something custom for the switches

Yes, Yes, as little as possible

I probably eat to much, I sleep enough and work as few hours as I can afford.
The rest of the time I get to PLAY in my garage, at least for another month
then it will be time to get the boat out and float around the river for the summer.

    Re: ST162-7254182 "Dirty Deeds"

Today it was time to start painting up the repaired areas with a few layers of undercoating.
This stuff dries fast enough that by the time I had gone around the whole car I could start
back at the beginning and put another coat on so I wound up with 4 or 5 layers of undercoating
    A few random shots
    [IMG]

Now I'll turn out the lights in the garage and shine a light from outside the car on the welds
and check inside for holes. I picked up a tube of Seam Sealer so I can seal up any remaining
holes and smooth out any areas I want to. I got it in white so I can easilly see where it goes.
Both it and the undercoating are paintable so it just makes it easier to use contrasting colors
    [IMG]

I also finally found a place that sells tack cloths which are just sticky cloths you wipe surfaces
    of with before painting

    more acne
    [IMG]

    more bondo :facepalm
    [IMG]

luckilly the bondo is just to mount a couple bolts on the back of my visor emblem
    [IMG]

after sanding, this is a very light sanding with 150 grit .....its so light that the
visor is still ballanced on top of the paint cans it was painted on
    [IMG]

    test fit

    Re: ST162-7254182 "Dirty Deeds"

It was a nice windy day today so I opened up all 4 doors to the garage
and gave the whole area a good blast of 100psi air with the air gun to get
rid of as much crap as I could and I restrung the tarp to hopefully keep
crap from falling into the fresh paint
    [IMG]

    a couple of hours later
    [IMG]

and I found a place that sells custom letters

    Re: ST162-7254182 "Dirty Deeds"

and finally I got the center piece of the spoiler done
    [IMG]

    and the visor
    [IMG]

and the first coat on the body
    [IMG]

had a couple runs on the drivers side, one on the door
    [IMG]

and the other at the front of the taillight
    [IMG]

I'll wet sand and respray the body tomorrow and then I think I'll be
pretty happy with the overall job
