ST162-7254182 "Dirty Deeds" Well I haven't got a name for this one yet so for now its going by its original factory designation ST162-7254182. Overall its pretty complete, the only things missing are the cargo cover & the right rear speaker cover but I have spares for both of those. looks like I have to trouble shoot the headlight Yay .........RUST Ah the infamous side quarter window leakage problem leading to the built in spare tire swimming pool Do you think the poor Celica is shaking in its boots knowing the camry beside it which is 4 years newer is toast. You can just barely see my All Trac behind the camry. Stay of execution......hopefully its feeling a little better now that it has made its way into the garage. Afyer many modifications
Re: ST162-7254182 I hope this one is not hiding to many hidden horrors for you. nice matching pair now 8)
Re: ST162-7254182 Well other than being gutted it was in pretty decent shape. A bit of work on the rear whel wells and behind them and replace the hood and drivers door and the body would be practically new. But I didn't have enough room for 4 cars and a boat so something had to go.
Re: ST162-7254182 Well the horror story begins. I was hopeing to not have to sandblast the interior but ...... That sucks cause now I'm going to have to pull the dash and all the crap behind it, or I'll be cleaning sand out of it for the next 10 years. But I guess thats really okay because I know theirs alot of unprotected metal behind the dash that has started to rust from the humidity it has encountered in the last 21 years. The drivers side is actually better than the passenger side. One big hole and a couple of smaller holes and alot of surface rust after the sound deadening material was removed Another swimming pool........the drivers side rear speaker wasn't performing optimally This is not the way to fix a hole. It was glued and screwed in place. At least whoever did this repair also put a second piece of sheet metal on the underside of the car and sealed it pretty well. So I'll give them a 7/10 for their efforts. Passenger side in the hatch Passenger side rear strut tower front bottom Passenger side rear strut tower front top Passenger side rear strut tower back top Passenger side rear seat swimming pool Well I've seen better but I've also seen worse. Nothing I can't fix.....so the fun begins.
Re: ST162-7254182 And now the dash is out. If your going to work on anything under the dash I highly recommend removing the dash instead of trying to turn yourself into a pretzel so you can work from underneath It takes about an hour to remove. I'll post a how to in the interior forum HOW TO Remove Your Dash You can also see in this pic some of the unprotected metal pieces that humidity has not been kind to.
Re: ST162-7254182 Can't you find a better body and save all that work? Come to think, it would be an ideal race car as it's shed 200kg already
Re: ST162-7254182 it looked fairly tidy at first glance, just shows, how with our cars, they can hide rust damage. Seen worese repairs than that floor, as you say it could have been worse. What gets me is how long the prev owner let the qtr light leak go, could have saved you some work by sorting that.
Re: ST162-7254182 Nope not in Ontario/Quebec Canada. They use ridiculous amounts of salt on our roads in the winter. This is one of only 2 I have seen for sale so far this year. Most of them rusted away long ago and have allready been recycled into new vehicles. I know of 1 coupe for sale 1987 Toyota Celica GT Coupe but if I get my hands on a coupe I'm hacking it appart to make 1 of these And it would be ashame to hack that coupe appart.
Re: ST162-7254182 yeah here in good old ontairo we use something like 5x more salt than any other province in the country, cars dont live here. .
Re: ST162-7254182  wow, that's a lot of rust. I hope all goes good. That's a crazy amount of salt.
Re: ST162-7254182 I think chicks would have to book tickets for a ride in an IMSA replica I hear ya, I lived in Walvis Bay, SWA where they make the roads in the desert out of coarse salt. It's a car killer and all the cars there are painted with iron oxide, inside and out Your solution is to garage the good one over winter and have another clunker for winter use.
