who knows if the 4g celica have one big thing that really weighs down the car, or something that can be removed or replaced...

such as bonnet? maybe the celica has abnormally heavy rear seats?
    anything

just somethign that passed my mind cuz having a lighter car is better is almost everyway

The rear seats are pretty light.... But they're pretty easy to remove...

You can lose your a/c if you have it...that'll free up a bit of power and lose some weight....

Yea, I picked up a set of racing seats for about 150 for a pair, they aren't nearly as comfortable as the stock seats but they drop so much weight...

I took my back seats out due to their pure uselessness, its a pain in the arse to get back there, and I'd be so pissed if I was forced to sit back therer

Mine still has the tire iron, and the little green pouch that it came in, along with a bag of assorted nuts and bolts. I also have the jack.

I'm going to use a hole saw in different sizes, to cut many, many holes in those heavy as hell bumpers. Then when that is done, I'm going to remove material from the foam between the bumper and outer skin. I have already removed all seats, carpet, headliner, and power roof assembly. I am getting a collection of lexan pieces, enough to replace 1/4 windows and rear glass, plus removing both door glasses and internal door guts. I removed all A/C equiptment and heater core assembly, and am gutting the dash of all unessesary parts. My goal is to get the GTS down to between 2,200 and 2,400 lbs. after adding the 8 point rollcage and other safety equiptment.

I have already installed a very light Ultra-Sheild aluminum raceseat, so seating is taken care of. I know that most if not all of these things are not practical for the street, but some things can be incorperated and put to good use. It has become clear to me in the few times that I've had the car on track, that weight is it's biggest problem, which it shows greatly in how easily it's brakes begin to fade after only a few laps. I will try to keep you guys up to date on each weight saving mod I make, and give some advice on the easiest ways to do them.

The doors are heavy as HELL too...there's so much bracing in there it's not even funny....

Bob, if you're cage is giong to be protecting your side then you should consider gutting the braces from the doors if you haven't already too!

I have alot of this poly carbonite stuff and I mean alot

and its hard to get a sheet big enough to fill the back of the car, took me a wile but I managed to order a piece large enough from a local sign shop

its all the same stuff but it goes by different names

its basicly shredded PVC pipe in sheet form, light and it looks good, if you wanna put stuff on top of your covering you'd just get thicker sheets of it, OR

you can get the same stuff they make sub boxes out of and put carpet on it, and it looks fine :D
