yep and it gets stored were a back seat would be? or somewhere i htink its better than a sunroof especially cuz it still has that open top feel that a sunroof just doest fully give
you might be able to pull off a t roof if you reinforced everything around it really well, and added those subframe connectors. i recall 89celicagt saying that when his vert was on the hoist he couldnt open the door...
so we all know what the floor looks like if u remove the carpet, what does the roof look like without the sheet metal and headliner? is there any more support than that previous picture shows? cuz im really intested in this now
the second one you made? can't be much if theres already a sunroof. I would think the main supports run down the sides, with a few crossbeams
then again I've seen a 240 with a sunroof after a headon...the front end was smashed and the side beams around the sunroof had just folded upwards, condensing it about 8 inches, making it look like most of the strength inca rs is below your feet.
so in other words this is possible? just cut it all out and put 2 bars on the sides or just cut out hte center and leave the bars if there are any
Possible, definitely. Safe? Probably not so much. Unless you also incorporated a roll cage and subframe connectors.
Take down your headliner and look... The roof is only reinforced on the pillar's.... everything else is sheet metal and some bracing just to hold the sheet metal up... It's definetly possible to put a bigger sunroof in... Take down your headliner and look, it's easy to take down.... Remove your dome lights, and anything else with screws, it comes down pretty easy...
Interesting idea however, I know people who have had t-tops and they hated them - taking them off and on driving around with them etc. If you want a droptop, just buy a GT, do a swap and add subframe connectors. That's my plan. -K
There is an ST185 CS Edition with a T-Top shame it was butchered but its been done on the 5th gen frame should be possible with the 4th gen.
im gonna take down my headliner, and if the areas big enough, then my sawzall and grinder just might get 2 work
garbled would be a good say in this..he seems to have messed around with the celica's body quite a bit....
Ok Sterling, last warning but SPEAK TO AN ENGINEER BEFORE YOU CUT ANYTHING. You may find that once you cut the roof you can't get your Celica registered in any state without an engineers certificate. Do some research through VicRoads first!
