Hi there! Would you please let me know guys if there is any aftermarket oil pan in the world which fits perfectly for a 3SGE engine built in a 1986 Celica? I am not talking about custom made or race parts, but a nice factory looking piece. Anyone uses such part? Thanks very much in advance! Máté
Yeah, why not... It costs 280$ so I thought it would worth a try to check if there is any alternative which I do not know about. (and neither google)
That's exactly what he wants, but it's expensive at Toyota dealerships. Do you know any aftermarket source?
Sorry I forgot that your first replies are appearing slowly, but they suddenly did and made mine unnecessary
Hey Mate, yes an aftermarket oil pan for an 86GTS (3SGE) does exist. I bought a Spectra brand one, part #TOP04A for USD $59 from Autozone but a lot of online places carry this one. The oil drain plug threads in my 86GTS were stripped by the previous owner. $280 in Hungary is pretty expensive. You could probably also find used ones for way cheaper. st162rocket has a used one for sale:
Yeah, I have seen the Spectra TOP04A one on the net but I was not sure if that is a proper one for my car since every site said it is only good for the 1988 and up Celica and not for the 1986. But can you confirm if this is not true and it fits perfectly for the 1986 as well? Is it the same in every detail than an original Toyota one? Thanks very much for the help!
Hey Rock Auto has them too, shipping is much quicker than Autozone, ask me how I know? http://www.rockauto.com/ racerb :banghead
It's missing 2 holes on the end. I haven't actually got around to putting it on, but the site said it fits the 86, haven't heard of any difference between 86-87 vs 88-89.
All three pans pictured in this thread are missing the two holes at the end, including the Moroso Race pan. racerb
I recall that Stig did a comprehensive write-up on the oil pans. I was just gonna drill the extra 2 holes in the aftermarket pan for my 86GTS
Why are those holes missing as it looks the same ?............ If no answer I would do as Rick said and drill the holes.
Sure, if it is identical apart from the two missing wholes then I would purchase the Spectra one. If the shipping cost would not make the price as much as an original Toyota one here.
the holes are missing for the rear main seal retainer/holder. it seems that they redesigned it in 88 that required no bolts through.
I see, so the Spectra one fit without any modification to the 88 and up engines which look like this: http://www.racetep.com/carpics/3sgteA.jpg
