Clay barring is a long and tedious process but for us, it's a pleasure Use the biggest piece you can. You can use a detailing spray as a lubricant or water. Best to use a spray bottle and keep it wet at all times. Keep folding the clay bar over once you've done one panel. Once the Celica is fully clayed, the bodywork should be silky smooth. The body is clean of any previous polish/wax, therefore you're going to have to put on a good coat of polish, sealant , and wax ( optional ). As far as know about products like Meguiars Scratch X, I think it draws paint over the scratches. Once that has been done to a standard you're happy with, its just a process of polishing it up. Might need a few passes of polish, once that is done, use sealant or wax for the final touch.
Just came in the post today, really happy :drool5 Tried it already. Excellent all round product, does EVERYTHING, incuding glass.
Check this guy out, he is really, really good and has a lot of informative videos. Watch his video of him taking out a deep key scratch off of a red truck......unreal :shock http://www.youtube.com/user/m22wright
Thanks Andrew , I watched the 20 mins deep scratch removal , just genius. I haven't got a DW, have you ? Think I'd be to scared to use it :roll
No Steve, I do not have a DW but I plan on getting one. I have watched a lot of his videos and he is very informative about the products he is using and types of pads and buffer speed. He has another neat video of him showing his 3 step process on a BMW and there is another video of a 07 BMW where he has done a 4 step process. I am going to experiment with some of his techniques in the future on my 86 GT because I have a medium depth key scratch on the drivers side going almost the entire length of the car. Had it there for over 8 years now. What I find really amazing about this guy is that he has Parkinson's disease which causes him to shake a bit and he can still finesse the paint any way he wants.
I Have recently contacted the experts at Polished Bliss (One of the best sites in Britain IMHO) to ask what they recommend for my Two Tone Metallic Paint. They recommended the Werkstat System . I have bought this very reasonably priced kit and true to their work It has given me my best results so far. Ill post up later! I do recommend a look at there site though. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog ... erZWSAK000
Here are my supplies, I am using the Werkstat Kit for my car as stated above. I have many samples of wax as shown. I like to help friends and family with the detailing so keep all stuff that I do not use at present on my car. Some of the brushes I use for wheel, tyre scrubbing, wheel arches, Upholstery an interior vents and all the nooks and crannys. Microfibres, Drying towels,Masking Tape, wash Mitts and buffing cloths etc! The Day to day stuff I keep in this Tool caddy.
WOW ! Mark, you got some serious bit of kit there ! Love it ! That Werkstat Kit sounds superb and a good price too.
