not to boast or anything, but these new car designs resemble mine from years ago when i still in high school just mocking up cars for future. didnt think it would come up so soon =] amazing car though.
Final name for the Toyota model is GT-86. Pics: http://toyobaru.net/forums/f9/toyota-gt-86-actual-photos-motherload-676/ I'm not satisfied with the final rear lamps. All earlier versions were better
:drool5 ............ I'll have one of these thank you........ Interesting combination - Subaru + Toyota....... I know very little about the Boxer engine (I'll have to do some research) but I'm assuming the flat 4 would help balance the car nicely, I do love the sound of a boxer engine with a decent exhaust........ the car has good power to weight with good fuel economy........ yup, gimme, gimme, gimme.
they need to call it a celica! imo the size, power, sportieness all add up too a celica grand child not rolla. the only reason i can think they wouldnt is because of the boxer. personally im not a big fan of the boxer sound. -it is showing 2800lbs and 200hp (figure 150rwhp..ish?) im a bit scared of the weight as this seems to be the downfall of all the newer 2dr sports. i.e. eclipse and rx-8.
In my opinion it has more MR2 potential then celica, except for the 2+2 idea, the rest is pure MR2 in my opinion.
The first 3 generations of the Celica were RWD I think it's not the reason, they just think it's a new car, and they say it's in relationship with the AE-86 cult-car and the first ever Toyota sports car, that had a boxer as well.
The engine is similar to the 4. gen 3SGE (BEAMS): - same 200HP at same 7000 rpm - almost same 205Nm at a little higher rpm (6400) - 86*86 bore / stroke is the same too Compression is higher (12.5:1), and I'm reeeally courious about what system does it have for timing. Weight distribution is 53:47, and yes, the boxer engine helps a lot keeping the centre of gravity down: 460mm.
I know I am in the minority here, but I do not like it, I guess I am old school. It looks like a freakin hyundai to me, everything now is bulky, round, and bubbly, with ugly headlights and tail lights. It is not a Celica. Of course to me the only Celicas are the 1st,4th, and 5th gens. We need to come together and design a 8th gen that combines all the best attributes of the 1st,4th, and 5th gens. Retro style :hehe My favorite gen Celicas 1. 4th (the bullet) 2. 1st (close second, the classic) 3. 5th 4. 3rd 5. 6th (ugly ass) 6. 7th (chick car) 7. 2nd (pontiac sunbird)
+1 - well put Stick some Hyundai or Kia badges on it! Even the 202 is too bland for my liking, great cars have their own styling and don't follow trends. 147kw - Awesome?, with that kinda power it will soon be forgotten I think the gen7 is a styling masterpiece, if only it had a motor to go with the looks... Some "Beef in the burger" to quote John Force
-yep, here its considered a "girl" car. i got so much crap for it when i had one, but its uber comfortable inside (cockpit like), handles great, and even my gt was a peppy little car. its really a very nice car. could use more power for sure, but i think the biggest problem with that is the engine(s) a basically un-upgradeable. -200hp with a cog that low should handle amazingly. the brz sti will have a carbon fiber roof to further lower it. hopefully the boxer they use will be easilly upgradeable and access weight easilly shed....remember the elise is 200hp (2zz 7th gen motor) @1800lbs, and will smoke damn near anything around a track. so if you could see 275 hp at say 2500lbs with a cog lower than an elise youd be onto something. i think aftermarket support and upgradeability will make or break it. good reason to go boxer rather than a new yota motor. -ill say this.... the landcruiser is almost paid off. just need a house with one more stable  would be wary of the first year though.
i've been quiet until now about this on here. IMHO this car is beautifaul on the outside and a POS on the inside. dierct injected boxer 4...yeah. i'll never buy one because of that.
