ok an actual update picked up some things from the wreckers today.
Ever since owning th car 2 things in the interior have pissed me off 1.grey interior 2. wind up windows.
Since then i have constanly been on the look out for descent black dash and door trims (reast will be painted as everything else seems to be faded and the black wearing off). Well today was the day the search was ended

The door trims and A pillars are the defenition of great condition. Havent even given a thorough clean yet and look great. The dash is in great condition not a mark or crack in sight. As you can see there is some slight bubble action happening in front of the passenger side but as you all know. Thats about as good as your gonna get lol.
Will will be a bit of dicking around with door trims retrimming and fitted my speacker pods onto the new ones. Im not in a hurry to fit that dash. pulling that 1 on my own, limited tools not enough room to open the doors properly and car up high on jack stands surrounded by mud was no freaking picnic and i did it properly (i.e no cuttin the loom and snapping of bits) and i wanted practice for when i swap them over.

Swapping dashboards is no cakewalk... you think grey interior is bad? try a full BLUE interior... ugh... annoying. luckily, i got the entire interior from my parts car, but bad thing is now, after going for a ride in revheads car (after he locked his keys in his car, you silly twonk, all good tho) i realised, i need a bearing for my rear left wheel... shouldn't cost much? should it? but, a black dash is alot better. i even got the interior panels with the same velour on the seats on the panels. looking forward to the conversion!! BTW: Trick is when you install the screws right at the back of the panel behind the cluster, use a small blob of blu tack. brilliant stuff that!! (dont mind my spelling mistakes, its 1:30 am here...)

they are brilliant. Couldnt realistically afford them but i couldnt risk letting someone else take and or damage them

Yesterday i pulled the electric window mechanisms out from the car i got the door trims from. Which was fine (thankfully i remember something from my attempted apprenticeship lol) until i was told the price $55 EACH! almost told them to get fucked but you dont often find ones with electrics at the wreckers so meh what can ya do? plus i pinch stuff from there all the time so it prob evens out :p.

and ST162coupe blue interior is nothing, my other celi has the poo brown interior.....nuff said. Wheel bearings are easy, pitty your in the wrong state lol, did mine really feel that different to yours? even with my completely fooked suspension?

Your car was alot quieter. Mine sounds like it has bad road noise, but I checked the brake drum last night, it happened to be the bearing itself was shit. So I'm gonna see how much a new bearing is today.

as for the power windows: I have some from my parts gt4, as well as the mirrors ( which I have to install, standard mirrors won't attach to this loom) so I'll be happy when all is said and done. I'm also contemplating on wiring the drivers seat straight to the battery, which means get a fuse bit and a pile of fuses, and keep upping the fuse each time one goes kaput, lol fun. But it will be worth the trouble.

Re: Rev heads work in progress * BONNETS ON!!!!!!!*

thanks mate, if i have time to i might have another fiddle with it all this weekend. As il be ripping out all the interior from the spare celi to start painting it all black and through a random meeting of someone who has just joined my car club. looks like a may be doing a trade of, my panel skills on his ra40 for his interior trimming skills for some vinyl work :)
Ive been to busy helping dad on the race cars lately to pay any attention to mine :( . by the looks of it more time will be taken up with the laser soon enough aswell as engine mounts need alot of attention and so do the carbies.
how ever rest assured before the end of the year theres going to be some big big! updates so stay tuned hehe itl be wurth it :p

Rev, you're welcome to pick up the spare blue interior, or anyone else for that matter

I'm going hybrid interior for the TEMS, will be something totally unique (pics up soon).
but it has taught me you can mix blue, black, brown, red, grey interior parts to create your
    own unique interior

I think a black interior with red door trims & seatbelts would be stunning
    Blue/grey
    Brown/Black
    Red/Blue
    Black/Grey
    Black/Red
    Black/Blue

Let's call it "Gen4 Interior design dept"
They did it with the Corolla RSI's, so why can't we?

Re: Rev heads work in progress * BONNETS ON!!!!!!!*

the plan is that im using the black door cards and dash. then pulling all of the brown interior out and painting the plastics black for one black interior and the psare car will recieve my complete grey interior and the brown dash and door cards il probably just throw.
With the black interior the carpet inserts on the doors will be wrapped in light grey vinyl and the red bits on the steering wheel to match. I may paint a couple of small bits on the dash light grey but am hesitant as it can look a little to ricey if not done right.

I'd be wary, I'm sitting with panels sprayed black and it's all coming off.

Don't like the accenting idea either, what do you do when you get tired of it?

Re: Rev heads work in progress * BONNETS ON!!!!!!!*

the panels were all sprayed black from factory so they are all chipped and rubbing anyway. I know the perrels of painting plastic, i also know what not to do. paint always comes down to 1 thing prep work. People seem to just ignore that fact and paint away with out using things such as prepsol, plastic primers, propper sanding grits, adhesion premoters etc. I may of been a panel beater not a painter but i still learnt the tricks of the trade :)

Re: Rev heads work in progress * BONNETS ON!!!!!!!*

Well i literally just bought these
    [IMG]

Single piston 185 front brakes from our aus delivered Group A's. Very similar to the 6th gen but use thinner disks (i think) and are a direct bolt up.
Supposedly in great running order. Will pull them apart and decide whether they need a kit put through em but i doubt it. Unless theres alot of meat left on the discs il probs sell em off and go for some slotted ones. will organise some braided lines to (been meaning to do for way to long lol)
