Well im going to be replacing my clutch hopefully this weekend. Im gonna put this in http://www.ultrarev.com/Exedy_OEM_R...0L_L4_Cyl._(3SGTE_ALL_TRAC_Turbo)-p69987.html I'll probobly be taking the whole engine out just because i want to replace seals and stuff, etc..... My friends will be helping me throughout this whole ordeal so it'll be intersting to find out who really is my friend :).

I'll also be giving the car a paint job since the car will be undriviable for a little while. Along with that i'll bacsicly be making sure all is good and running in the engine. After everything is running good, im gonna strip her down and loose all the wait i can :).

Hey, where can i get one of those extenders for my MAF, i know someone sells them, i just cant find it.

Even though i know im new and all, i know some people out there really like helping others with cars (except my friends) so if anyone wants to help with this engine removal, send me a pm. I want to have it back in before spring break ends which is the week after easter...whatever day that is. Im near naperville, il.

well i decided to take a detore and try and remove the cruise control. I've got the directions on how to but i just cant seem to get the damn cables off, fucking things. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get the cables off the CC unit and the TB. I think it has to do with the litle pin, i took pics.

or does it have to do with the actual cable itself.

    and wut about the TB.

    ..i know im a noob....

give the cable some slack, now rotate the cable where it connects til you can slide the whole thing out.

and for the bolts just makr the place of one with some masking tape(wrap it around right behind it) and use two wrenches to loosen off the other one til you can pull the cable case out of the bracket.

oh and just in case, there should be three bolts holding that sucker in, you'll need a socket and extension (cant remember the socket size) and you'll have one thing to unplug...maybe wire it to something fun :p

yea, i got it out and rewired it to the TB, thanks man. There where 3 10mm bolts holding it down, i needed a 6inch extender with a pivot section because one was at a weird angle. You need to disconect a plug and vacum line.

I took off the T because I didn't see it in any of the vacuum routing diagrams....it's now in my extra parts bin!

    Day 3... easter....

I didn't get too much done today, just got the starter out. The bastard who designed that section of the engine bay should be shot... When i got the starter out i noticed the gear was covered in this black powder.. kindof odd but then i figured, thats probobly my clutch disk!!!! lmao

Also got the car jacked up and started messing with the crossmembers and such, i think im gonna kill myself trying to get those fucking bolts off. Whats a good product to spray on the bolts to lossen them up?

So basicly i havn't had very much time to work on the car. My mom had to go to the hospital on tuesday, so i've been there and work most of the time now. The time that i've had to work on my car, i've broken a socket and a 1/2 to 3/8 converter trying to get that crossmember out. I've used wd-40, liquid wrench, and the propane tourch. The bitch will not come out, so basicly im gonna have to use a impact wrench.

Now i have the wrench, i just need an air compressor. Any one know of where i can rent one for cheap, and how much it would be. Money's really tight mainly because i walked off on my job because they told me i couldn't leave when i find out my mom had to go to the hospital. BTW, she had a heart attack with her heart rate at 240 and work wouldn't let me leave. So work wont give me my paycheck until i have a "chat" with them. So my account is at just about 40$ :(.

GOOD NEWS!!!!! its snowing.... wait, thats bad because its APRIL!!!!!!!!! Arg.... nothing goes right

just out of curiosity, do i have to take out the lower crossmember? The one that goes from axle to axle. I've broken two sockets now and cannot get a hold of a air compressor. I was looking at it and it kind of looks like it may not need to be removed.

O, and where can i get something to plug a vacume line, and what would it be called?

You don't need to take the crossmembers out to get the engine out...but it makes it a hell of a lot easier... There's one engine mount near the firewall below the air intake thats a bitch to get out...but I managed to get it out and lift the engine without taking the crossmembers out...

im lowering the engine. That mount doesn't look too hard to get at since i got the plate over it + the starter out. Then theres the mount towards the front of the car. Where is the 3rd mount?

OMG, idiot before me HAD to use an impact wrench to tighten the lugs on the tires. Goddamn where they a bitch to get off... and no, im not weak.

my max socket is 22 and it doesn't come close. Its more like a 30+.

question, when disconnecting the driveshaft, there is like a shield over it, i took that off and now there are 4 bolts. Correct me if im wrong, but if i take those off, i can just lower the shaft from that side. Since im lowering the engine, thats all i have to do, correct?

    PICS:

My crossmember finaly came out after being dowsed with wd-40/liquid wrench, being heated up with a propane tourch for 5 min per bolt, and having a impact wrench beat the shit out of it :D
