Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes yea man, gotta see that engine before it drops in. x] you'll be gt2 in no time! :bowdown
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes reposting this from the other thread on the old "members Celicas" section:
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes a couple of pics guys! (some of you have already seen these on my Facebook, but for those of you who havent, enjoy!) The engine has only done 70,000 kms. man what a gem. new silicone hoses, etc. dont mind the oil pipe, its like that only until i can get a hold of a metal 90* elbow. silicone hoses up close. as i said on FB, Thank you MTQ! this mob specializes in turbos. so brilliant guys to deal with, they have 12 stores around australia. and the hose between the intercooler and turbo is from autobarn. this engine is going to be sick as when its finally in. not long now. one last fine to pay off, and i can get stuck into buying what i need/ saving for what i need.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes So nice! Make sure you takes lots of pictures when its ready to be dropped!
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes Need to see pics of the flywheel & clutch, also some dimensions would be good I suspect it's compatible with these What gearbox are you using?
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes i need to get off the gearbox off ther motor, so when i do, ill take some pics for you, stig. and im planning on using my own gearbox. so, yea, im guessing that its compatible too. the starter motor looks the same as the one i have on there now. and thanks for letting me know about the loom rich has, i have brought it off of him, so that will be here soon enough.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes I think you got lucky having the FE motor, your old flywheel won't fit the GTE crank but the GTE flywheel should match your FE box
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes does that mean you can swap a gte in using the FE auto trans or am i missing something
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes look what came in the mail for me today! My new water line(s) to replace the old bent crappy looking one. this one is flexible too, so i dont need to worry about any snapping of the line or high pressure hot coolant leaking out of small fatigue cracks in the pipe. P.S: Stig, i have the later 3SFE, being a '89 model year car, it has the facelift FE in it. although, if i cant use it, then ill have to go with a hybrid clutch. if i can use it, then clutch wont be so much a problem. but speaking of clutches, there is a place that deals with clutches down the road from my old mans work, so i can pop by there when i have the time, and get pricings.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes Your clutch will be a hybrid anyway, you'll be using the GTE flywheel & pressure plate and the FE clutch plate Still tryin to figure where those hoses go?
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes ok, thats no big deal then. ^_^ as for the hoses, i know where they go, just a matter of connecting them up.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes Got my new loom from Rich (Alwayzsidewayz) today, and Stig, not exactly wishful thinking dude, i do have a full ST165 Dash loom too. so ill swap that over too, and its going to be cake. just not looking forward to pulling out the dash again
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes Changed over the dash loom yesterday, not so much of a painful job as I thought. Rewired in my radio to the new loom too. Now the interior loom is now ready to accept the new loom. And I installed the engine loom I got from rich. (thanks man!) Its all good now. Cannot wait till it goes in!
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes Sorry for not being online in ages, been kinda busy lately with other things. (a 400 dollar fine for a supposed "Flipping the bird" and tailgating, and Shop Class, sister issues, a mate moving out and me wanting a Nitro RC car.) when im finished faffing around, i am going to start working more on the 165 engine. i got quoted 180-ish for a full brake rebuild kit through my auto teacher, and 350 bucks for a full suspension bush and swaybar links and bushes. so, when im finished getting what i need for my RC car, i WILL start on the bushes, etc. then i will need to fork out $1800 for a radiator, i/c heat exchanger and pump set, and around 700 for Super Sticky Road-Legal Semi-Slicks. then, in goes the engine.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes you and authority haha, you can get cheap radiators off ebay check this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-Celica-ST ... 41572f5f94
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes mafix, that not the rad on its own, thats a aftermarket heat exchanger, aftermarket I/C pump, and the rad itself all up.
