Re: My Celica ST162 coupe More bad news: Water pump is dead. it spins, yes, but the impeller is so badly worn away with age, i need to replace it. not bad for 20 years old... lol and the price i got for the new pump: AUD$89.95
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe did you get the t-belt as well? i heard that its recommended to change the t-belt with the water pump
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe Trel: Autopro. im not sure if they are in WA, but yea, if they are, go thru them. i have a great time with autopro. they have the bits i need, and if they dont, they can get them in easy. Kevin: Cheers for heads up. im getting a mechanic to do the job. stuff doing it myself. engine bay too cramped, cant fit my fat hand in the gap between the engine and chassis frame. Mafix: will do mate. ill get all new gaskets and o-rings for the water pump bits anyways.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe Got the water pump and rear housing replaced, car still overheated, so im guessing its the radiator itself. so im going to wait until the next couple of paydays so i can fork out on a new radiator... The damn pump/housing/t-belt/fanbelt/install cost me 800 bucks... not happy.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe i made a mock-up set of JDM plates out of paper, a glue-stick and some cardboard. pleased with results: EDIT: lol2 i just noticed i have a wonky P Plate... hehe
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe That"s authentic looking, at first I thought it was the genuine article till I read the thread properly.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe lol2 yea, it does look authentic from a distance. it looks good too. i made it from Galaxy Graphics Japanese plate generator looks the bees knees.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [GT-Four bodykit on!] yea, it does, lol i even got a set of SSV side skirts too, the lot of it only JUST fit in my car (thank god i left the top of the back seats at home...) BEST OF ALL, it only cost me $250 bucks, there is a crack in the bumper near the foglights, and i dealt with that with a ziptie. easy as. BTW: Hows the drawing goin, kevin?
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine Purchased and is on the way!] i take it you went on there and checked? haha, good on ya. we need some 162.net members on there, representin'! yea, when i saw it, i thought "huh? either this guy is dumber than a bar of soap, or he is a commodore idiot, or both" then i saw him say about the GTE being only 110 kw (147hp) at the wheels, i thought, "ok, he IS dumber than a bar of soap."
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine Purchased and is on the way!] he must be doing something wrong in his thread on mcm i guess that's his reason as to why he thinks that 1st gen gte's only have 110kw...
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine Purchased and is on the way!] I just had a look on mcm (have seen a few of there vids before...there ok.....) i have seen dyno print outs of 1st gen GTE's only putting out like 95kw...so its no shock that he thinks that.... oh and that guys blake from ozcelica and toymods... surprised you dont know him???? your on ozcelica arnt ya??? weird he thinks you got a 5s tho LOL Jai...
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine Purchased and is on the way!] I dont go on ozcelica that much. I go on every now and then, but not often. The guy is a nut to think that the 162's have a 5s. Pfft.
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes too! Hey Guys, Welcome back!! good news on 2 fronts, and one bad news: Good news first: I have my engine, it arrived a few days early, and breezed through customs! so im stoked about this, i gave the engine a look over, the mechanical aspects of the new engine are great!! not a fault! (although i did drop the tensioning spring down into the timing cover, and there is no way to get to it unless i remove the lower timing cover, and i need to remove the harmonic balancer, bolt for which is a PITA. :sad) and i finally got a new set of brass shifter bushes on the cheap, but for what i paid for them dosent justify the way it makes the gearbox feel like a million bucks! now for the bad news: some things on the wiring loom are cut, there are two wires at the front of the engine (maybe both are for fan temp switch, i dunno) so if anyone has a 100% intact ST165 engine loom (need just the loom with ALL the connectors), let me know. otherwise, im gonna have a hell of a time on my hands finding out what wire does what. pics soon, guys, i promise!
Re: My Celica ST162 coupe [Engine arrived, New Shift bushes havent had time to get any, been juggling a heap of stuff, like school for instance. but, when i can, ill get sum.
