Exhaust is getting an upgrade, already running 2" pipes so Im gonna be putting a magnaflow cat and straight through muffler on. Along with fixing the flexpipe.

Now for a question, is it possible to drop the exhaust from the y pipe down?

update: Got the new (used) caliper waiting to go on.

I removed all the rubber sound matting from the back of the car along with any remaining trip.

My project today was my new hood, its a stock gts hood that I gutted to reduce the weight, Its about 1/2 the weight of my current hood, it blots to the hinges and uses a pin like system to lock down in the front.

I want to see If i can replace the door hinge today without having to remove the fender, well lets go give it a shot

Hinge replaced, you can do the top one without removing the fender, but I list a bit of paint on the edge of the panels from wrench turning, no big deal. Here is a bit of the gutted hood, its blue, would have been nice if it was already black. Ill get to painting it one day. Tomorrows project is the brake caliper.

Installed the Magnaflow muffler today, I still got a cat and flexpipe to put on but I cant get one of the y pipe bolts off so ill leave it for antoehr time. I also found the mother load of rust under the runner. Once I cut It all away it looked exactly like 165's 165.

How much significant is this section of the frame? Ive already cleaed off the rust and rust proofed it. Im currently planning to foam it, then sand it down. I have the ability to weld in supports if its critical to the strength of the car. Input greatly appresheated

Actually that looks like my red car too...maybe its a problem with red cars...

Looking good man. Although I think you may have problems with that hood warping due to the removed supports. Something I would keep an eye on.

Most of that you cut away is just outer panel's, I wouldn't worry about it.

But you'll have a tough time getting it smooth with just foam, bondo, and sanding I think, or are you just gonna rubber-rocker guard it after anyway??

Hood: Hood can flex a lot more now, but its about 1/2 the weight of the one i took off. If it pops the center In Ive got a plan set involving some light weight bracing ill put on.

as for the runners, I was jsut gonna foam then paint, but the bondo would protect from dents, Im an idiot. Just foam bondo and paint. I might put the stock runner back on but I like the look with it off actualy

    Big Update Here,

Ill start from the top, Ive fixed the hood flex with some insanity glue and a stiff meter stick. Its also painted now, turned out well. Bolted down for now.

That honkin channel of rust is gone, I welded the frame rail up a bit then filled the gap usign 3 cans of explaing foam, bondoed it then painted overtop. I also repaired a big section of the fender, results below, Turned out well I think
    [IMG]
Everything from the black trim down I remade with metal sheeting and bondo

    OMG

Now that I have your attention id liek to announce I have Complete my exhaust! Magnaflow Cat and Muffler and it beats the hell out of a20 year old stock one. I can 100% feel the differience, and not having a huge exhaust leak helps too, I can hear and feel t-vis kick in.

Ive Got a few videos I took on the way home, they are absolutly terrible filming by me, but you can hear my new exhaust from the cockpit perspective, and get an idea of my cars performance.

Note: I didnt give it WOT untill like 3K rpm due to the fact I was going through a streetlight and some people were around. It was chirping through 2nd but you cant hear it

its imposible to get a good picture with my camera. ill try otuside next time its bright fot you. turned out good, not showroom but good. Im going to try wetsanding off my orange peel on the hood and polishing it to a shine too (old paint) But the process is reallly simple

    1: prep, sand/scuff
2: Paint, Light coats, shake can well
3: wetsand with like 600 grit
4: repeat 2 & 3 as needed with finer grits till your happy
5: Polish with basic turtle wax polish ($5) using electric polisher (heavy duty kind)
6: Wipe off all the residue
    7: Apply some turtle wax

Reckon it would last in the sun? Maybe I can do my car blue again. Then again, if I use White it should come out great, blue will be harder. What you reckon Meph?

Looks great BTW. End up Using clear?

How about black? Black ST162s look hot! Red fades the easiest.
