Re: update on project 'CJN' :BEAMS UK st162

Hi guys, yes the front lip was painted with a more 'gloss 'finish than a matt one,i though i was wasting time using the spray on Back to Black plastic treatment after a clean so hell i painted it gloss.

The repair to the panel under the screen was done fully and treated with rustkiller and Hammerite paint over the top so unlikely it will rust for many years,as was the entire windscreen recess before the glass was professionally re-fitted and bonded.i also didnt re use the plastic trim that runs down the sides and top of the windscreen,we used a wider rubber seal that fits nice and flush to the bodywork. The rest of the body under that was fine,i suspect that there is a breach further down the firewall on one side as Stig pointed out that may still let in a bit of water :banghead

The rubber seal you can see here

Just an update on things, took a few pics of progress :

This one was taken by someone on a website for Jap cars over here in the UK,at a meet that was full of Scoobys,Skylines and all kinds of Jap metal,me and my mate Ady (the white 162 behind in the pic) were there with the CCUK cars and whoever was on pic duty for the other site must have taken a shine to my car and put it on their website along with the monster modded ones.Sweet!

Recent additions,Spax 40mm springs all round,CV joint drivers side, and suspension drop links front and rear.Sitting a bit lower now, a bit stiffer and looking nice too. Also added some 'original' style decals to the rear end UK style, dont know if ill keep them on yet,see if i get used to them as my car has been un-badged since i got it...

Nice job on the windshield. I'll be doing the same soon. Where did you source that rubber strip from?

If I remember correctly, the guy from the windscreen company is a car enthusiast and I think it was him that suggested and found this trim.

I didn't think it would suit it at first, but having seen it at our meeting, you hardly notice it and looks very much part of the car.

Really happy with how she's coming along,so proud to be driving her instead of the sad bland new metal on the roads now.Gen4s are just so damn good to look at.

Also need to re paint the rear bumper strip in black as it doesnt match the black trim on the side of the car.You might notice that my car doesnt have those black 'strips' above the sills,i removed them as theyre rust traps. You can see i finally replaced my old exhaust,i had a full custom stainless steel one made up for my car ,with a single rear box and a slash cut tip.Looks and sounds great, have the option to add a silencer later on if i decide its too loud(it is a little bit :eek:ops ) as i decided to have a straight pipe through to the rear box.Interior is next on the list,Mr Sidewayz is kindly coming down to help strip the complete dash out to HOPEFULLY resolve the small leak i still get in really wet weather, ive done the windscreen and scuttle panel so hoping we can see where the problem is.Other than that shes a totally different car to the one i bought the other year, and i love it to bits! :auto

I love that style wheel for some reason :twisted I know there similar to the spoon sw388's, but what actually are those that you have - some kind of older Enkei?

Thanks guys,LOL afraid i cant do the deal with the wheels though! :D They're Nakajima 16" wheels,i bought them from a friend on the GT4OC.Theyre really lightweight too, fitted with new 205/45 profile rubber.Really like them, suit a red 162 really well :cool Not sure if they make them any more, very similar to the Enkei style though

Everytime I look at your car, looks better and better

This one is one of my favorite shots. Great shot and shows the paint and whole car real well. Not to mention those white wheels, they just pop out at you. The car is not too flashy and not to bland. Perfect blend and you're right to say they do fit the red 162 well. :cheers

Thats really kind of you to say mate, yeah am really pleased with some of the shots ive got to say.The Spax springs give it a stance that i like, not too low but about right i think.Pictures dont always tell the whole story, she isnt a proper minter like CelicaSteves at all for example, but she does have a great look about her .So cheers, genuinely means a lot,its been a long road so far! :cheers
