I upgraded two or the three Toyota's I own to H4 sockets. One car have the Hella H4 housings, the truck has the Bosch H4 housings. I need one more set. I also upgraded my light harnesses to handle higher wattage bulbs. The truck is running 100/80 watt bulbs now. I also added an aftermarket fusebox with 8 additional ports for things.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Great post by the way!!

H4 headlights are standard items here in australia, you yanks got sealed beams? talk about short end of the stick...

I said the same thing, sealed beams suk!

My car keeps failing the test as I need to jack up the beams to see properly, so it's an ongoing battle.

I thought of going HID's but they only last 2000 hrs, so just installed Blue Xenon's and I think it's a big improvement (you can't do that with sealed units)

and swapped but now i'm looking at the HID kits. i'm so very confused. so i need h4 dual beam. i got that. i measured my new lights at 7000 candlepower low and 56000 cp high. anyone have any idea what HID i should go with to improve this? i would really like the bright yellow HIDs. and i lost the link nbx posted.

ok found a good kit. i'm looking at the 55w ddm kit with h4 hi/lo at 3000k. should be spot on.

anyways a quick review of the autopal lenses. i'm glad i went with these and not the ebay ones. they seem good quality, sealed nicely, fit right, and have a glass lense. i got the standard bulbs and again i'm glad i did. it helps to validate this post. i had the cyberblue sylvania bulbs and these put them to shame. the only thing the sealed beams did better than these is light up the "car in front of me" tires better. because of the shield on these there are 2 little blank spots on the road. not a big issue, considering all the benefits. better side view, beautiful high beams. the normal distance and range are the same. the pattern seems a little more spread out instead of 2 hot spots. i like this a little better although 2 hot spots would seem better. i've never had an issue seeing in front of the car. i've always not liked the "not being able to see what's next to me" problem. so all in all, good buy and i recommend them.

Hmm I still have the standard sealed beams that were on the car when I got it. I never had a problem with seeing at night even on country roads with no lights. Maybe Im missing out on something by having these shitty headlights. How much did those autopals run you? Id love to run some HIDs.
