Damn I should've saved that single radio unit but I'm pretty sure I threw it out! It was from an 87 GT-S

and it looks pretty much stock too. great idea since aftermarket decks usually require $50 more for a dash kit and wiring harness

our car's just allow your deck to be screwed right into the dash...but yeah....

and just figure out the wires and hardwire your stereo..save $50...maniac...

Yeah, that's probably the way I'll go. Heh, I wonder if my mom would let me pull the head unit out of her RAV4....

So this is the final plan for my stereo.

3 1/2 Infinity Reference up front
5 1/4 Infinity Reference in back
Double DIN head unit from newer Lexus (this will be difficult)

Once I get more cash, I may add some tweeters and a small sub with an amp as well. What do you think?

I still think you should get an alpine deck! They're rather nice...and just get a tray to fill in the hole! It'll look great when it's done and won't be as hard to find as a new lexus deck!

I may just do that. I saw on this site someone had found this thing that fit in an open DIN slot that had cup holders...anybody know where to get that?

hardwiring = not worth it when the hiring kit is, what, $10?

it is when u buy a bad "universal" adapter and accidentally switch the pos and neg to the deck.... that was a fun 3 months listenin to the radio

So does anybody know what I'm talking about with the cup holders/coin tray dealy that fits in one of the slots?

I stole a cup holder from another car that fits fine....same with mafix, he got his from a ford taurus, I think I got mine from a corolla....

And hardwiring took me all of 10 minutes, I'd rather spend 10 minutes of my time than 10 dollars of my money!

tell ya what man, in my cressida i used to put the drinks between the seat and the center armrest console. perfect for soda cans and 20 oz drinks. not so good for jamba juice or coffee. some spillage. anyways i too am investing in some infinity kappas for the front and i have a set of kenwood 4.25 that i am thinking of modding up somewhere. or i might finally get rid of them.hahahaha anyways i see a lot of the front sizes on ebay. especially infinity. what are the wattage ratings on the stock speakers? i see a piar of inifinnitys with 120w and a pair with 25w and i am trying to see if it is worth it to buy the 120w ones or if those extra watts dont add up to nothing special.

i see a lot of infinity kaappa and infinity reference. are the references good? they seem to be cheaper. most kappa sets go for about 60. thanks guys

I'm making a custom drink holder for my 5th gen...

The stock drink holder makes it impossible to use the stereo! UGH!
