Ive had the celi up too maybe 90 so far.... Soon ill test her out... Bet on a long straight itll hit 130~!
According to the BGB, the limiter is set at between 122-125 on the GTS models. I was hitting just over 120 on the back straight at VIR and it never kicked in, makes me wonder if an error in the speedometer due to tire and wheel changes could effect it's acurracy. It also says that the wire in question goes from the speedometer cluster to the SPD pin connection on the ECU, might want to look there first, but consult the manual before cutting any wires. racerb :?
Been to 120 with 400+ pounds in 2 extra people, and had no intake, and my TPS was set completely lean (ran with minimium fuel) and a badly balanced rim. I think 130+ is easily doable. 3S-GE baby.
I have a AEM intake and a downpipe back 2.25 inch exhast with a pass through muffler. AC and the compressor have been removed. EGR and Charcoal canister have also been blocked/removed. I've also since stripped the hatch and had other small stuff done.
Ive cut mine and rolled 114 On the 14 freeway !! I had to pull out cause I started to hear things shake that havent shaken before lolol
My 88 GTS doesn't seem to have a speed limiter, at least not below 130 mph (that was fun!). The car's been in my family since '92 and no one during that time altered anything. We bought it from the orginal owners, an older couple in Michigan, so I doubt they did anything to it. Maybe some models have it and some don't, although that sounds rather strange.
