Anyone feel like trying a nasty chop-job?

Basically.. I want to try something crazy with the rear window:

    1) Yank it and replace it with the rear window from a fifth.

    2) Where the rest of the window used to be, replace that with just metal.

    3) In the rearmost corner of the rear window, 3 vents similar to an Eb110. In a triangle formation.

I don't care about color or anything.. or even that it looks that good.. just a general idea.

Here is a link to a pic to start with: (with different quality ones)

My god, what have you done to that car? Ah well, to each his own. Hey, if you don't want those stock wheels, I'll gladly have them. Name your price, I'll see what I can do.

Are they in good shape? I hate the wheels on my car right now. they are the same size as the stockers, but half an inch thinner. Plus I like the 8 spokes better.

I don't plan on keeping the wheels, but for the time being I need them just to keep the car up off the floor. As for the picture, thats just foam to get the body shape right.. the foam doesn't stay there. As a matter of fact, these days its all gone.

Ah, good. I thought the foam was some kind of home built body kit mid-creation, and that it was going to look like that. Quiet, it's been a long day. :D

Well.. it *is* a home body kit, but no, the body will not be made out of foam. That would be silly, and, well.. amusing at speed. The real body will be fiberglass and steel. What you see there is an early stage of the buck, which I took molds off of later.

Rye: Looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for taking a crack at it.

OOps.. I described it wrong.. but that kinda looks cool.

What I meant by rear window of a fifth, was the rear side window. Sorry..

But..man.. if it wasn't for the fact that the rear hatch would be a PITA.. that looks super cool. And.. damn.. that vent looks sweet... I may have to reconsider that part.

Heh.. I'm working on that window section right now. I figure in a few weeks I'll be able to post a "chop" of my own up.. I've got the steel all cut out, I'm just working on fitting it all together right now.

What did you end up doing? Something like those vent's I made or did you put the 5th gen window in there?

Basically the plan is a window similar to the 5th, but not the exact dimensions. Getiing an actual 5th window in there looked like it was going to be a PITA, so instead, we are just building the window casing custom, and will shape a section of plexi to fit, and bolt/glue it in.

The design is pretty much the same as my original idea. 5th-like rear side window, with the three "speed holes" in the rear corner. The hard part has just been getting the right curve into the sheetmetal panel that fills it all in and holds the casing in.
