Yeah a mate and I going for my bike licence in a few weeks, I'll probably just get a little (and light) 250 to bomb around.

Yeah the aussie dollar is bitchin'. Loving it.

The: timing belt, HG, oil filter, air filter and front main seal arrived today, only $100...winnnaarrr.

I'm going to call it the $100 car, it seems everything on it (including it) cost $100.

Ok so I had a bit of a go today (until rain interrupted proceedings), got the:
plenum on (and blocked off the egr port, and made a new throttle body gasket)
head back on and torqued down
timing set and covers back on

I have tomorrow off too so I should nearly be able to get it running if I get a few good hours on it, I'll have to remember to give the wreckers a call and see if they have a radiator to suit, does anyone know if any other models are interchangable, eg, st184, sv21 camry etc. The ST204 is different because of where the water outlets are.

Ok mate, see you soon haha.

I got rid of that 33 last night that I was working on, so all energies can go back into the White Lightning.

I still need to do something about a radiator, anyone know if the top tank off a 184/5 is the same?

I don't, but I just wanted to remind you that you are not permitted to spend any more than $100 on a replacement :lol

edit: eeewww, you were working on a Nissan? I hope you washed your hands before you touched the Celica again...

Haha, Yeah I'm shopping around for the cheapest place, I don't particularly want to just do a radiator plastic repair as I like the prospective buyers, and that seems like a dodgy repair to me.

All late celicas have plastic end tanks, I was thinking a good condition second hand one might be better then a repair, the other option is just to do a repair knowing I might need to do a replacement down the track (or someone else depending)

:shock ....... beautifull radiator for 170 biscuits, it's one of those items that is absolutely vital and is worth 270, it is indeed a rule that has to be broken Matt :fingersx

hhmm, come on guys, you are killing me here.
I can't afford that at the moment, the 205 is taking priority, and by priority I mean a new exhaust manifold, bigger (ie 50mm) wastegate and I'll make a new screamer pipe for it too.

    Buy the Chaser matt.

It lives again got it all back together today, bit of a cough initially then wizzed into life, the timing was 5 deg too advanced but that was about the only hiccup.

All that is left now is to fix the radiator top tank, chuck some rego back on it and It'l be back on the road again.

Aside from the radiator the engine bay is pretty schmick.

I'll look at a repair kit of the top tank tomorrow after work, then repair it and do a little test drive Sunday
    Good times, good times.

    Good work Cuts

Hows the Mark X import coming along? (and is it "Mark Ex", or "Mark Ten"?)

pronounced Mark "ex" reason they called it that is because its the tenth generation of the chassis (of the "X" chassis), think of them as the new Chaser.

I'm also happy to report that the air con on White Lightning works :)

Well I took it for a test drive today and I'm happy to report it is all going well. I need to give it another drain as there is still some residual coolant in the oil, and the water is dirty (I deliberatly put water and not coolant in it because I knew I would be giving it a flush anyway)

The clutch is on the way out but I knew that from the get to.

Suspension and brakes are on par with what I would consider normal for a 23 year old car. There is no rattles, clunks or loose shit anywhere so I'm happy about that

Tomorrow I will chuck some rego on it and start driving it around, feelsgoodman.

Enough talking shit, PICSSSS, I gave it a wash, but havn't waxed it yet so it should shine a bit more when I've finished with it.

Before you ask the sticker says "Toyota Celica", I put it on all my cars now saying the make and model or (in the case of the Chaser) just the model. I also do it to my mates cars that I work on.

Ahhhh, very nice, I have just noticed that your Lightning doesn't have cruise control, me thinks it may have only been avaliable on autos like mine ?

FYI, the absence of your cruise actuator also proves that your ABS actuator is indeed under your rear seat, I can't remember who showed me where this was but thanx again.

What do you think of the seats, I reckon they're as comfy as fook and certainly do 'hug' with aggressive driving.

Now that this is all said and done, what are you going to do with the car ?......... I remember the first thing you said when you bought it was you were going to turn it over as a cash generator, lets hope you have changed your mind by now :aargh

BTW, I nearly forgot, have you decided to get some lightning decals off Kevin (Stig), I'm curious to see them installed as I may follow suit, my rear decals could do with a make over as well.

Yep I found on the net somewhere that cruise was on the autos only.

So we do have ABS? I've not hit the skids hard to find out, I'll perhaps do that tomorrow after I chuck some rego on it.

I still plan to sell it mate, it will serve as daily duties for a while (after the Chaser is sold and before I finally get a Mark X) then it will be offloaded. I already have a couple of people who have put their name down as buyers.

As for the WL decals I don't see much point (unless they are turbo cheap) because like I said I'm only doing this to make some coin.

Interesting thing I worked out today (interesting for me anyway) out of all the Celicas I've owned (6 in total) this is the first NA one.

EDIT: I'm going to see what's under the rear seat....
EDIT #2...All that was under my rear seat was $0.05 and a cd, lol.
