What would life be like, if we didn't have ST162 .net ?

When I first aquired my Celica back around 1994, I was REALLY happy. :D I didn't even look back at the Ford Fiesta XR2 I had traded in.

The love affair and serious polishing had begun. I searched for a Celica club wanting to share my joy with other gen 4 Celica owners .Having found one after a long while, it folded without having attended a single meet :sad

I then discovered the Toyota Enthusiasts Club by accident at a show I was attending as a spectator. There were models of all Toyotas and to my joy, there were a few ST162s :D The feeling was like an orgasim :drool5 I joined up straight away.

Unfortunately most of the ST162s started to disappear and today I'm virtually the only ST162 left and a cabriolet. During the following years, I discovered Celica Club UK, again there's only a handful including Rich Alwayzsidewayz. Life with the Celica began changing when I met Rich in person. He guided me towards the ST162.net where I couldn't believe my eyes, hundreds of gen 4 owners :D

With Rich's great help, we organised a UK gen 4 meet with great success, and are planning a 2nd one on July 16th. We were hoping WillieMafix could come, but we don't think he can make it.

I dread to think now, what life would be like without the ST162.net. I'd still be polishing and enjoying my Celica but wouldn't be able to share stories amongst other things with you guys and girls , Brandi Turbodog is the only girl I know on here. It's really fun and interesting to enjoy our Celicalitus together :cool

I don't think there would be any of these critters left... Gone the way of the Yugo, Festiva, etc... Just little blurps on a Wikipedia page...

Me too would miss sharing experience and reading about what others do, a lot!
The site is also a very serious knowledge base dedicated to these cars.

my celi would've been going on to 7 years without getting driven. 10k KM's less than it has been able to provide me. but then again i'd be driving a different 4th gen since i was specifically test driving used 4th gen's before i got mine.

Probably would've sold my car, and ended up car-less... :ack2 (Even today, my parents are bipolar about me looking at buying used cars/fixing up old cars)

Would have less knowledge about the 4th gen and ignorant about the many MANY 4th gen drivers all over the world. We all probably wouldn't have this much of a love for these cars if it weren't for this site :cool . I know I've loved 4th gens ever since 7th grade but no where near as much as now.

There are 2 ladies currently on the site - Turbodog and MR2guru - both have GT4's and Guru's
is spectacular with a ST215 motor, Scion rims etc.

I was on all the other sites too, but only really started learning and appreciating once I joined ST162.
Then the site disappeared toward the end of 2008 and I was lost for a long time.
Thankfully Willie bought the site and with help from Rye (and others) was able to get it running
    again at this address.

Had I found the site earlier I would not have made as many mistakes (sold/gave away a LOT of valuable stuff)
and we've been on a steep learning curve ever since.
Over the years we've gotten to know each other and someday I'd like to visit the friends I've made
in UK, OZ, France, USA, Fijii, Canada, and here in NZ

I can't stress enough the importance of supporting the site, it cost's money and valuable time
to make it happen and I'd hate to have it disappear again.

Good post Kevin ( Stig ). I always thought it was Willie who started the site.....so who did ? :roll

With the recent crash, things were a bit lost and unstable, but luckily things are back to health and interest is better.

I don't remember, obviously they weren't as committed.

I'm slowly getting the guys here together, going to see 3 GT4's under construction this easter
weekend and we're going to a historic car race meet on Sunday.

I spotted a lady in a white vert yesterday and there's another black vert f/s on Trademe.
The yards are pathetic atm, no Celi's at all to strip - so it's getting harder and harder for those
    trying to restore cars.

The guys on Toyspeed NZ are trying to get a GT4 club going, heaps of ST205's and a few ST185's
    but bugger all ST165's sofar.
A few weeks ago I saw 20+ MR2's cruizin the backroads, so there's hope

It's good to have all you with the motivation and drive for these cars. It's like a welcoming and fullfilling feeling that someone is actually keeping the 4th gen Celica and all related, the site, the meets, the people. It's just amazing to see such dedication. I can see how much value is placed into these cars and I'm not talking about money. I'm talking about loyalty, of some sort. Lol you all know what I mean. It's love, it's the Celica.
