Hey just checkin on this topic.

    I have a 162 and the shifter for a st205 will fit?

Is this a stock or aftermarket short throw for the 205?

Speak to rev head first, on the 162, bolting on the 205 lever seams to have issues.

i went the 204 which is longer after the pivot ball aiming for a shorter throw.

TBH i have heard varying results iv since discovered a few who have installed the 205 shifter no problems. others have encurred the same problems as me in trying to use a 204 shifter. With the longer length after the pivot ball it fouls on the housing in 5th and reverse. The way our shifter housings are constructed there is only 2 solutions.

    1. Take out the shifter housing and grind the cut out section a couple of mm wider.
This is not dangerous but uncredibly simpl and should solve the problem in the most effective manner.

    2. raise the pivot ball mount. This on ours isnt simple today. Not in a reliable manner anyhow. With the design of our mechanism, the pivot ball on the gear lever sits inside a black plastic locator that "cups" the pivot ball. There is then a bracket that mounts over the top of the mechanism with 4 10mm bolts that stops the gear leaver from jumping out of the black locator. You can raise the clamping bracket with longer bolts and washers but you cannot raise the black locator effectively as it has 2 specific notches on the underside to locate and lock it into the mechanism.
With out rasing the pivot ball locator the gears will be sloppy, more prown to popping out effectively the probelm will still ramain.

So i should look for a st204 short shifter?
Cutting the base of the housing is simple enough. Raising the pivot sounds like a headache.

How much shorter of a throw do you think it gave you?

i havent completed it i only dummy fitted it and havent had time to finish it. How ever whilst dummy fitted even though i hadnt cut it down yet the short was shorter but more importantly felt shorter. It simply hasnt been high on the prioritie lists unfortunately

I know what you mean. i have been fixing so much on the car this summer. Got a few things to fix next spring.

Going to collect parts over the winter, And do another tear down and rebuild in the spring when she comes out of storage.

Sorry to ask this again but is your shifter stock or aftermarket st204 shifter.
