    okeydokey.

I'll just rice out my car now and save up for the gte later. :p
That, or wait for another alltrac to surface.

    Hey guys.

Was just wondering if I could use a 3sgte rebuild kit for my 3sge, and then turbo it using parts from a gen1 GTE. (Since the GE would then have the lower compression pistons of the GTE)

    Also, could I run the '165 GTE ECU on a turbo'd 3sge?

Sorry for reviving this dead horse again. Can't help it. :lol2
st165 3sgte in the local junkyard can be purchased for a fairly low price, but at the same time, it's already been partly dismantled, and has over 100K miles, so I don't really want to swap that in my car. Also, I'm trying to get my car to pass smog right now, so swapping another motor in would make my current efforts in vain since I would have to smog the new motor.

A possible list of what I would have to source from the gen1 GTE to convert my gen1 GE into a GTE would be great. :)

    Thanks guys. :mrgreen

Don't be fooled because they look similar!
Biggest difference is the knock sensor, the GTE is already prone to leaning out and busting pistons.
The comp in the GTE is also very high for a turbo motor and designed to run at factory boost only.

If you plan on building a GTE from a GE I suggest you have it done by an expert, all those home builders
we had on the site are long gone and there is a simple reason for that - It's not as simple as it looks!

^So you can't just swap the sensors over or anything?

    Another question:

Can I put a 1st gen GE head on a 1st or 2nd gen GTE?

    thanks

Anythings possible but it must be done properly and without an expert + ECU/standalone swap you
don't have a hope of getting reliability.

For increased boost (ie power) you MUST also lower the compression, my suggestion is to use 2JZGTE pistons

Yes, heads can be swapped. I'm using a GTE block and gen2 head for my next motor
I believe there are some differences on the BEAMS heads/blocks though
