So i love the st205 hood vent, i know most people do. I've seen only 2 or 3 st165s with these vents and alot of st185s with them. I know you need to custom make one for our 4g's and i was wondering if someone could tell me where i could get one. Maybe even a detailed write up!? Here is a picture of what im taking about, this one is shit, looks like the just glued it on. This is the end results i want.
But to get one you can go to Toyota or, occasionally, they pop up on Ebay.com To get what the red one has, you'll have to do alot of hood modification. cutting the supports, fiberglassing, filler, etc. Thats a nice job and would take alot of time to get it to look smooth like that. Now, personally. I hate the 205 vent on anything but the 205. I think it doesn't flow with the lines, ESPECIALLY with the 165's. But to each his own and I will not bash you if you do it. Good luck with it. (If you continue through)
Unless you have a top mount intercooler, it would serve no purpose. Just make a small induction hole with directional vents with black mesh screen on the driver side of the hood right in front of your air filter.
Well i figured i would need to fiberglass, etc. I like...no love the 205 scope on that st165. Btw dutch, even if you have a top mount intercooler, i hood vent like the st205 is a huge improvment. It allows your engine bay to be cooler which makes your engine happier, which means it'll be more reliable.
true true..... where else can i get the vent, i know toyota is gonna charge up the ass, so i would rather find a place that sells them.
true it'd help with venting out hot air, but you might as well save some money and put hood bracket spacers. Same effect. Proven to lower engine temp up to even 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
the vent for the car is suppose to be right over the exhaust manifold and turbo which will cool the engine a hell of a lot more than hood bracket spacers ever will.
i want to replace my scoop eventually with the tacoma one....I'll have to keep my eye out at the wrecker for one though
the first car is erics with an erubuni scoopp, the second car is a guy in costa rica IIRC and he swapped hood skins with a 185RC hood.
I think eric is selling his once he gets his skin made, but I'm callin dibs If you;re good at body work (or at least know how to use bondo) I suggest making your own Using bondo and some polycarbonate stuff I have I'm gonna try and make my own tonight (cardboard mock up first) This is what I hope to achive with bondo and my poly carb stuff Actually, I'm gonna go to wal-mart and buy some clay... mock this up properly... gotta get my paycheck any way
