I've had this car for a while, just started working on it again. Story of the car, bought it off craigslist for $800. Pieced together a first gen w/ stuff around the shop. Painted the car a few weeks ago w/ left over airplane paint (aero-glo). My goal w/ this car is to upgrade the car while also using it as my daily driver? Well see. Here are some pics:
looking good! looks like you're doing the rally headlights with the flip ups permanently down? someone should have spare jdm/edm corners around. i wish i had the space+paint like that!!
Sweeeeeet........ love that paint colour. I used to work at Mercedes Benz in Brisbane and it reminds me of a new and very unique colour that Benz come up with, it's called 'almandine red', check it out, I think they even patented it, dunno, can't quite remember. http://www.gasolinealleybingley.co.uk/s ... -automatic
Yes nice like paint job mate signal red maybe I see your dome panel is masked ,is it a diff colour? black would look good with red
It's a composite roof skin. I welded the sunroof shut & made it smooth. Then I used the roof as my mold and now I have a fiberglass sunroof-less roof skin. When I finish the interior I'll rivet & glue it on for good.
Here's a question? Now I know that the top photo is a 17" & the second photo is a 16" what size wheel do you think is on the car below????
Looks like another 17''? The picture below looks to be a bit farther than the second, so it looks like the below is pic has bigger wheels. First pic doesn't work :/ Actually nevermind it does work It looks like the first and last pics have the same size.
I need to figure out what lug pattern the WRC cars were. This guy has a few to choose from. 15,16, & 17's
They should be 4 lug patterns no? Didn't Toyota choose for quick changing of tires/wheels for the WRC? And that restoration is amazing, great to see other people taking a passion in these cars and noticing its history. And a rather expensive passion :mrgreen
Interesting pics you have Wheels depend on which WRC class you refer to? Class A are 4 lug 114 pcd Class N (stock) where 5 lug 100 pcd Most rally tyres were commonly available in 15 inch while tarmac tyres were available in 15 - 17 inch 15in mud/gravel 16in Tarmac - I don't think TTE ST165's used 17in but the ST185's did later on Personally I don't think the ST165 will ever make a daily driver. Too rare, thirsty and becoming a headache to maintain - better suited to a weekend car. RIP Dale
Thanks, I really like the way the 17" fills the archs. As far as not dailying the all-trac, they are pretty common in Washington. I have a few buddies that daily 185's. Chances are it'll get driven less than I'm hoping but I'm putting it together w/ dairying in mind.
