do you still have your engine lower covers on? the ones that direct air to your rad and cover the lower portion of your motor? there just plastic pieces.

    yes or no?

Yes but I don't see the correlation between the two...?

cuz ive gone through 8 starters in 2 years.....when don was down from Seattle he noticed that my celica is alot hotter under the hood than his alltrac.....literally hot enough to melt wires and such.......so basically i wondering if not enough alr is getting to the engine bay to which is raising the temp under the hood and i keep shorting out my starter solenoid.

i would think that if that was the cause the ge's would be burning up more starters. i have the undercovers, but mainly just to keep dirt out of the bay. damn near imposible to find those at a yard.

I have all my engine undercovers on.
But no way the 3SGE should run hotter than the 3SGTE.
I've got both and the 3SGTE runs way hotter.

I wondering if it's something else. Have you checked your t-stat and/or changed your coolant lately?
Is your radiator partially clogged or just old?

i have the 3sfe......and it gets hot under the hood....enough to melt wires and the such......im thinking my rad isnt big enough......also thinking of hooking my ac fan with my regular fan so i would have two come on instead of one.... thermostat was changed last year...rad was replaced after accident from a j.y one......maybe clogged....but i had it flush before i put it in.......might just get a new one.

That's definitely not normal if it's hot enough to melt wires!
My g/f had a 3SFE and it was cooler than my 3SGTE.
What does your temp gauge show?
You shouldn't have to hook up extra fans to keep the temp down, that's treating the symptom and not the underlying problem.
Sounds like you've got some overheating or coolant issues...

-yep you should neither have to upgrade your fans or radiator to keep a stock fe cool. heck ive seen em run at the track with no water at all and there fine. have you replaced the t-stat? if so maybe its in backwards? maybe time for a flush and new coolant. make sure that your not buying pre-mixed and adding water to get 50/50. or if you have to keep adding are you only adding water. h20 runs way hotter.

-iirc if you put a big aluminum rad on there your going to run into warm-up and start up issues. to cool isnt good either.

Re: so i have a question for those that have the starter pro

i run only 50-50 mix and i dont add any water, level is spot on.......my temp gauges runs normal.....t-stat is in correct.....its always ran hot...even in the other car before the swap.

Still shouldn't be melting wires though, that's unusual. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure it out....

Re: so i have a question for those that have the starter pro

^Hmmm, could it be that the alarm wiring gauge is too small for the current and that's why it's melting?
And, in fact your engine is actually at the correct operating temperature?
Just a shot in the dark.....
