Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * how do itb's work anyways? i know they are individual and stuff. but whats the purpose? better and more even airflow into the engine?
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * basically yer. even flow and the ability to take in shit loads more air. whilst the itbs are small individually. collectively they are a MUCH bigger area then a single TB bringing in alot more. and asways. more air allows for more fuel, which makes bigger "bang" which makes more power
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * thats one cool car btw i noticed that you have a black valve cover on your 3s-ge have you noticed anything different compared to the silver/white valve cover?
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * That's prettu awesome man. Can't wait to see when you start on this! First 4th gen with ITB's? I think yes. :cheers
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * iv'e just painted the valve covers. from stock they were either gold or silver, pre and post is the best conclusion we have come up with for the color change so far yeri thnk this will be the 1st 4th gen with ITB's, which is awesome coz i love being different lol
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * lol, not even the IMSA cars had bonnet vents so thats just a purist thing Rev this will be the 1st 4th gen with ITB's, which is awesome coz i love being different lol Not quite, 4th gen street maybe? - ALL the race 3S-GE's had ITB's, later motors had reversed heads as well with the ITB's over the radiator eg - This German hillclimb car is fitted with an ex-BTCC reverse head motor, ITB's & sequential gearbox TOM's F3 motors also sported ITB's but were restricted to stock heads/blocks
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * Race cars don't count! :hehe Well maybe. Not even the first 4th gen with ITBs?
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * Here's a 3rd gen idea, I think the runners need to be kept short or keep the injectors in the head Gen1's have long been a favourite with Midget racers, here you can see why nobody wants to try fit them in a roadcar
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * you can get a plate on ebay for the mounting of itbs. also this will be the first street car and street motor with itbs in a 4th gen. to my knowledge anyways. most itb 3sge's use a special reversed head.
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * -silly qeustion, but how exactly is a reversed head accomlpished? coulndt you just roll the cams 180deg? im sure theres more.
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * no, theres valve jobs and stuff aswell, intake is bigger than exhaust
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * oh rev...i do hope you have a stand alone system on order. you won't be able to use your afm unless you put a volumizer on top of the itbs
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * well ahead of you mafix id love to do a reverse head but. way to much work. iv seen the carb/ TB adaptors for the gen 1 head but im going a different root
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * Unfortunately i havent had alot of time to play with the throttle bodies yet. seems to be every time i start to get things happening to my car i have to fix someone else. i.e remove and fit a new radiator for a mate. fix my girlfriends sisters car after a crash etc etc anywho this is where im at with the throttles. I have seperated them and removed the secondary butterflys (not required nor wanted) now doing this leaves 2 holes in each TB. no big deal but just a lil morw work. have filled the holes with selleys steel reiforced kneed it (JB weld equivelant). Have done the same for the standard TB injector ports. on the quads the factory injector ports are directly behind the butterfly. this supposedly is for better atamozation of the fuel but to use that location would have been a PIA. custom brackets for a fuel rail and would have to bore out the injector holes. instead im going to use factory fuel rail setup and have filled these holes. heres some pics of my dodgy filing jobs. mind you no matter how smoothly i filled the holes i would have still had to grind away excess. injector hole Secondary butterfly holes and how the throttles are sitting ATM So next step is to dissasemble the butterflys and grind back and smooth the patch jobs. Then after that i will be adressing the trottle cable mounting. at this stage i will be welding a nut to the stock qaud throttle actuator and fitting a standard 3sge throttle actuator to it. in theory this will allow me to retain the standard throttle cable and standard pedal travel. only PIA will be making a bracket to hold tention on the factory cable, if all goes to plan anywayz lol. more update when i have something to update you with
Re: Rev Heads beast * the begginings of a new era * so some prezzies arrived in the mail for me this week Gen 2 N/A Head and gen 2 na fuel rail BC heavy duty valve springs with titanium retainers part of the gen 2 intake (the only part i need) im getting excited lol
