when you sprayed the fluid into the motor did you reattach the hose or just try starting her.......you have to have the afm plugged in for her to start. it will just crank , you could also have a bad afm as well.
the car won't start if you spray starting fluid there. everything AFTER the green box below needs to be plugged in/installed properly for the car to start! you have to spray it where i showed you here: you don't need the ebrake to work to drop the fuel tank; put the gear in P, you raise the back wheels, there's two bolts behind the tank holding the two straps holding the tank and 5 hoses to take out from around the tank. you need a 19?mm socket+extension, bunch of open wrenches (for the hose clamps), 2 long pieces of wood, 2 jacks and 2 jack stands. took me around 2 hours to take out the hoses, they are a bitch, but the removal of the tank itself + installation only took me an hour. here's where i did mine, at my uncle's parking spot: you can see the two jacks, one of the jack stands, the pieces of wood i used to lower the tank, the two straps that hold the tank up.
i have nooo idea what to do!!!! all my friends that look at it tell me good luck!, ha what would you do?
find out for sure if it's the fuel pump. you've yet to 100% diagnose that it's the fuel pump before you drop the tank and it is kind of a pain in the ass for you. things to try out, let us know how these go for you: 1.) diagnostic plug in the engine bay: short out B and FP and turn your ignition to "ON". take out your back seat (just the bottom part) and plug in a voltmeter. it SHOULD say 12v. if it says something lower than 12v like in the pic, then go to step 2. 2.) unplug the fuel pump (that yellow wire), find a 12v source, plug it in directly to the fuel pump. check the reading of the 12v source before plugging it to the fuel pump, and check the reading again after. if it's 12v still after plugging it to the fuel pump, listen very carefully for a wheeeeeen sound. try starting the car anyways with the fuel pump plugged into a separate 12v source. if the car starts now, you have problems fuel pump wiring 3.)starting fluid into the intake box. below is the ONLY video i have for when i had to do it. if the car starts now, it's the fuel pump.
should be on drivers side near the firewall behind the strut bar (this pic is showing the wrong pins to short out. it should be +B and FP)
Make sure your afm is not shorted out and that your tps isnt shorted out. A shorted afm wont let any fuel in besides the cold start injector.
TPS is a little black box behind the throttle roughly in green box. AFM is in the red box. the rubber hoses after the AFM needs to be plugged in for the car to start.
soo i took it to a mechanic. he says i have a blown head gasket and that compression in the 3rd cylinder is low and taking water or something like that. he says best course of action is too get a new engine?. where do i even begin looking?
depends on which motor you wanna run....if your looking at just replacing the head gasket...(which makes sense for a daily.) or upgrade to a 3sfe/ 3sge/ 3sgte motor........the fe and ge will be alot smoother than the 3sgte. you can find them around town but the best place is look for one with a beat up body and swap motors, this way you know it runs, 2 is that you'll have spare parts (some) and 3 you'll know the motor runs.....lol hit craigslist and start looking for one in a wreck or something but runs great.....you might have to drive a few miles to get it but it will be worth it in the end. or you might just wanna get a different one and use yours for parts and the such.
