So... who has gone this way on his/her 3S-GTE ? I want to use an oil cooler as temps get high in summers. Plus the oilfilter location on the gen1 3S-GTE sucks so I want to replace it. Who knows what to use, preferrable not the most expensive solution, but not el cheapo either. If anyone has something for sale, also welcome to offer me .
Damn should've looked at my fs thread I had four of those...one with the cooler....gone now to a friend......
I'm actually looking into doing this soon since my Trac is out of service due to cracked oil filter housing. So a buddy of mine who owns a 86 corolla has a oil cooler and relocation kit that he's selling and said its can adapt with my Alltracs oil housing since the threads are exactly the same. I'll ask him if I can borrow it to see if this application works
I dont remember which forum it was on but I read somewhere that people were having problems with oil pressure dropping with the filter relocation kits...just something to keep in mind. It doesn't bug me where it is at...sure it's a pain in the ass but its only every 3k miles that I have to deal with it.
you can't do what you are thinking with a gen 1 engine. besides i have like 5 of those housings and i'd guess another 20 with local members. shoot me a pm.
Try a kit like this from Summit Racing, it's close to what I'm going to use on my GTS. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g4985-1/media/images/make/toyota/model/celica Big difference in my case will be Earl's or simular SS braided lines with an in-line oil cooler and a Moroso Accusump system. racerb :driving
that looks ok, but has no built in thermostat which I think I need/want. I can use the oil cooler I have laying around from toyota but a complete kit would be real nice as well. The search continues, thanks
i'm going to use this. you'd still need an oil relocation kit if your gen1/2. http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/mr...r-cooler-sandwich-plate-thermostat-built.html http://www.mrpltd.co.nz/browse/30_253/oil-cooler-thermostat.html
I know Mocal has the thermostat in the relocation kit so that's what I'm after. THere is not enough room for a sandwichplate combined with the downpipe
Yeah you only need the thermostat if running a cooler, otherwise just relocate the filter and your done! racerb
topic states :combined with oil cooler" you don't have to put the sandwich plate at the block, you can put it at the other end where you've relocated the actual filter to. which would be neater and less lines right next to the turbo/dump.
Has anyone ever used this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALUMINUM-SA...fits=Model:Celica&hash=item484ec0bc2f&vxp=mtr I want to use this to relocate my filter, and a tee on it to run an accumulator.
The way it's built I think it will be leaking quite fast. I've seen summit racing, blox and mocal as good options.
