I don't know if any one of you are watching BTCC (well the UK guys probably are), but after a long break there are Toyota cars contending again. It surprised me quite a lot, but the base for the race cars is the Avensis. An odd choose if you ask me, the car is quite big compared to others.

So, next year there will be a new "standard", the NGTC (Next Generation Touring Car) which's main goal is to keep the costs of running a race team down, compared to the S2000 standard. This year is the test season for them, there was 2 Toyotas and an Audi at the start of the season, but one of the Toyotas is not contending anymore. The other car's team called Dynojet, driver called Frank Wrathall:

I was happy to see them in the series, and watched them progress. At the beginning they had very much technical issues and barely finished a race. At the half of the season the car started to come together, and now it's performing very well. Car and driver are very reliable, and strong too, they scored several podium finishes already.

I just wanted to share this, I bet I'm not the only one who misses Toyota from motor racing, and finally there is a series they are contending in. If you are interested, you can find the racing calendar at btcc.net, and almost all events on youtube.

Nice, yup, would love to see Toyota participating again. And when they do, they'll start releasing their consumer versions of their race cars like the ST165, MR2 and Supra lol
