lol yeah GT2 was lecturing me  . I can't wait to get my hands dirty ripping apart the EGR system.
lol very true but it does make sense what to do. Pull the crap off and block off the tubes/holes - basically would be the same as not having it on there from factory.
toyota originally claimed their engines were so clean burning and efficent, that they didnt need all that emission crap... but law changed that...japan got off lucky with no egr.. we got all the crap . .
Yeah it sucks having all the emissions crap - well at least I'll soon have less emissions crap. The Japanese are lucky because their 3S-GE motors didn't have the EGR and have a better tuned ECU which results in having 150HP, stock compared to the 135HP stock engines we have.
i had pacesetter. worked well for what it was. you can remove the egr and order the block off plates from speed source!
Consider yourself lucky......over the span of several years I gave them a chance on three separate occassions thinking that 'this time it'll bolt up'.......all three times were a waste. In fact, I still have two of those units sitting around.
Man you guys went the hard way around that. judging by my understanding which I'm fairly sure is quite accurate since i spent nearly a good couple weeks studying this EGR system, all you gotta do is blank off the EGR pipe, the one from the header to the actuator. There's two ways to go about this Mod, one is performance based and the other is Performance and aesthetic based, now it seems you want the aesthetic appeal of not having the EGR making your engine look ugly or something so going by what i read you seem to have found the right ways to go about it however if your motivation is just performance based, blank off the Main pipe and your done. It's that simple, you stop Exhaust gas getting into your intake and that's all you gotta do. when i put my JDM in i used the ADM intake with the EGR controls on it to avoid probs with the Fuzz, now i could dick around and replace the manifold but when it's as simple as a small piece of sheet metal i think if i bother with removing EGR that i'll just do that, then at least it looks like it's still there. NOTE* When it comes to the Japs 150hp figure, points that need to be remembered are that it was achieved by their engines having No EGR, More aggressively mapped ECU and specific tuning to their quality of fuel which we should all know is just top notch shit. Their models also came with a plugged wire which you could disconnect to use lower octane fuels more efficiently, it was an economical feature. I think Sprey16 is the only person here with a true Jap spec GT-R version. SO just removing the EGR won't give you that 150hp figure, just making that clear.
well for all i know my car is a japanese import has the gt-r tags bla bla bla etc, so yea im guessing proper jap one.
If you have strict emission requirements there in BC, I suggest you purchase a bung and have it welded on to the aftermarket header and keep the egr. -K
