Never lightened a GE flywheel, but have lightened others and It does make a difference in acceleration. Did make the mistake on our old Nissan Pulsar racecar of taking off too much material, which resulted in the outer ring gear and flywheel edge exploding and destroyed the transmission bell housing. Using the proper technic with a lath will yield about 5-8 pounds of reduction in material, anymore is too dangerous to use in your car. After trial and error we found that making a tapered cut toward the ring gear side will give you the strength and lesson the weakening of the metal.

Check around, there are several options for lightened flywheels for our cars from Fridanza, Clutch Masters, and I've seen others just can't remember the name. I'm actually going to be running a Camry flywheel because I've done the starter flip on my GTS and need the larger ring gear...

Here is one link from Horsepower Freaks......http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/performanceparts/Toyota/Celica/Flywheels/Flywheels
