Like the title ...I would like to switch to a manual rack...This car is a real drivers car..and i can feel everything, except the steering ! Maybe an Mr2 ? Ae86 ? Ae92?
to my knowledge there isn't one available for our car. as far as swappin one in, i'm not sure what will work.
I currently am...i know its not the best idea..but my rack seals died and i needed a fix for now. Ive had it like this for a year.
thats what everyone told me...but I didnt want to wait to save a few hundead more...I need to do something with it one of these days.
he told thru me thru our psychic minds.....no i remembered from a while back. and I wanted a post count.
For those who dont knoe exactly what "a cut belt is" please explain in a little more detail....
It is when your pwr sterring rack starts leaking or you wanna be buff man and you cut the belt that turns the power steering pump...so you can postpone you rack replacement and not add fluid every day.
well i got my car back on the road and the powersteering got weaker? which is actually really good cause when it was working my car was fn scary to drive, so much tigher now haha
an ae92 manual rack will work. if i remember right, just the base models or sr5 models came with these. i put one on my st184 but it does take a few mods. if anybody is interested i can post pictures. the length of the rack is roughly .25 shorter than standard 162 or 184 rack. get the rack, the rack mounts, ujoint (important) and the inside ujoint/shaft off the steering column, and use 162/184 inner and outer tie rods.
